RIP.
I who am poisoned with the blood of both,
Where shall I turn, divided in the vein?
I who have cursed The drunken officer of British rule,
how choose Between this Africa and the English
tongue I love?
Betray them both, or give back what
they give?

There is a continual sense of motion in the Caribbean...caused by the sea
and the feeling that one is almost traveling through water and not stationary.
The size of time is largera very different thing in the islands than in the cities.

and finally:
The future of West Indian militancy lies in art.

" Pray we will, sing we must and yet we weep..." Robert Yeates.
Derek Walcott, Poet and Nobel Laureate of the Caribbean.
We know why we weep.
We pray that your shining light glows forever...
But sing farewell, to a journey's end.
