SHAI HOPE - YOUNG GIFTED AND CRICKET STAR
Bookmark this page.
In one year's time, he will be a star.

Yeah, certainly one of the best on the market right now!
In reply to XDFIX
I certainly wish him all the best for if he does well that's an advantage to WI cricket but I am not singing his praises yet until he scores at least two centuries in a series against any reputable or high ranking team.

Good! you know the baby boomers don't like self-serve, they preferred to be served!
Btw, the two double centuries count for something, at least in my book!
In reply to XDFIX
Sure it shows that he is taking his cricket career seriously and wants to stay at the the crease with long innings, that's a great sign. However fans want him to translate his regional successes into dominate performances in test and international cricket. Also Ambris should be given an opportunity, he has been knocking down the door for at least the last two seasons.
In reply to Slipfeeler
If they had quit trying to play him as an opener when he does not even open for Barbados his numbers would have been far improved.
In reply to Slipfeeler
Who from, those available has scored 2 centuries
in a series against a top team?
Baby steps, baby facking steps.
When the bowlers learn to take 10 wickets
for a score below 350, we can talk.
Wondies cricket suck.
Hope will be a damm great player soon.

Ok then let's bookmark it! Feel free to call us out when he scores those two centuries in one series! I agree that the bowlers need to step up, cannot always wait for opposing teams to declare for us to bat.

Why does a comment about Hope has to bring a retort about ambris? The latter is gifted and will play for the windies.
Hope has played 31 Firstclass matches before the last series including 7 Tests and averages 37. Ambris has played 32 and average 26.
Hope doesn't have a thing to prove to anyone but himself so he can reach the next level. We must wish him well. He certainly earns his spot on merit.
Similarly, Ambris will get his turn by continuing to score runs. It's that simple. No one has done him a misdeed. just encourage the youngster and wish him well.
Lawse have Mercy!!!

Didn't really see a problem with mentioning them together. Not sure if you noticed but both players scored a double century yesterday and both seemingly are heading in the direction as two of WI future stars, if they continue to play consistently well. Somehow you seem to think that with mentioning Ambris in the same paragraph is undermining Hope, especially since you took the effort of comparing their respective stats. I agree let's wish our young players well, if they continue to perform great then it augurs well for WI cricket but don't get it twisted, none of them are stars yet!
Bravo better return to the team soon as it is getting harder for him to walk back in the longer he stays away

Congrats to Shai.
In reply to TanteMerle
Well Sir the consensus from most who have seen him, is that the talent and the appetite for runs is there. Am hoping that your crystal ball turns out to be spot on and he is able to excel at the highest level.

So I guess WE are to believe that
Shai Hope is currently the only gifted Young Player in the Region .
I cannot and will not subscribe to that B.S . I find it interesting that
the Readers Bureau has only singled out Shai Hope .
As usual INSULARITY is alive and
well in the Region , but I amnot surprised . Many of US in the REGION relish demonstrating OUR
INSULARITY .
In reply to POINT
Did you check the site? It features a number of players from the region, the writer put Shai Hope in play, given his recent performance
I would imagine other young guns will be featured - hang tight!
In reply to Slipfeeler
Of course none are the finished product. I don't know you nor vice versa but they are several on this board who think that by disparaging some in favour of their horse will amount to improve performances. Today we were had the stars back, same result so of course the problem is still the Bajan Brathwaite who is the Prez's pick.
Based on what is on offer I prefer to hope against hope for the likes of Shai to make it. If he and a few others don't make it we will be lost to Tier 2 forever.
As for Ambris he is a guy known very well here in BIM having played club cricket and I know him well beacause my club was one of the two he has played for. His time will come and those in his camp should help him get READY to seize the chance.
We need to let these young guns know that International Cricket is hard business and no amount of runs and wickets and regionals will let us know if they are ready. The ones who will do well will be those who are best prepared, disciplined and hard working and who WANT to do well. That is what we say to the ambris' and the Hopes'. Sadly we still play bat and ball and hope that our pure talent is enough.
