Holder and Brathwaite's "gentleman's" agreement

DIEHARD 2017-03-26 12:15:10

You keep selecting me inspite of my performance, and I'll keep selecting you.

JMo should have played ahead of Holder..waiting to see him prove me wrong

TanteMerle 2017-03-26 12:16:23

In reply to DIEHARD

So the Captain picks the team.

Interesting.

rolleyes rolleyes rolleyes rolleyes

You don't think Holder was picked
cause of his heights wid Bim pitch.

DIEHARD 2017-03-26 12:23:16

In reply to TanteMerle

Doesn't the captain have a say in the final XI? I thought he did, well if its not him its head selector Courtney, and we already know what that homie is about.

But you may be right, i will give that some thought, i hope he delivers for WI sake

TanteMerle 2017-03-26 12:28:59

In reply to DIEHARD

It's all about the Bim pitch and Holder
ability to get bounce.

Not a bad pick for the Bim leg.
Horses for courses.

Mohamed is unluckly.
Time to shelve Samuels.

DIEHARD 2017-03-26 12:31:38

In reply to TanteMerle

Samuels, I BEEN saying he should be dropped, then he serves me crow lol

He had a good PSL though and also scored in Hong Kong I think, he deserves a start, but JMo is unlucky.

Samuels on borrowed time, but JMo is no spring chicken

Pacy 2017-03-26 12:36:48

In reply to TanteMerle

You think Holder was picked because it is Bim? I feel he would be selected irrespective of the ground. Next 3 matches will confirm who is right lol

TanteMerle 2017-03-26 12:52:27

In reply to Pacy

But the stupid selection committee may take a good performance by Holder here the wrong way.

Horses for courses don't work wid idiots.

My opinion.
Play Holder in Bim for height etc.

Baje 2017-03-26 13:20:42

Why should JMO play ahead of Holder? The JMo I recall is a slow steady batsmen, who could give you a run a ball.More suited to tests and ODIS. I am not sure if he will bowl in this format.

DIEHARD 2017-03-26 13:28:13

In reply to Baje

He averaged 47 at a SR > 100 in the last CPL

I expect JMo to do a better job coping with this Paki bowling attack than Holder is all

analyst-kid 2017-03-26 13:29:47

not only JMo...Carter also...those were the two form players.

Baje 2017-03-26 13:33:19

In reply to DIEHARD
Reasonable..I just have not watched JMo too much in T20. However I expect Holder to open the bowling, so I think he is more in contention with Jerome taylor

DIEHARD 2017-03-26 13:35:21

In reply to Baje

Yeah, i heard that argument as well, i just had a different configuration completely, so i'd leave out that bowling option for a batsman to combat this bowling attack thats currently strangling us

Samuels got jooked

SirGarny 2017-03-26 17:00:07

In reply to anadayardi

I agree 100 %...Samuels came down the pitch and the ball was drifting down leg side,,should not have been given out

TanteMerle 2017-03-26 20:29:37

In reply to SirGarny

If Samuels didn't get jooked,

He would have eaten up another 30 or so dot balls.

The Ump was trying to get he out to avoid dat.

lol lol lol lol lol lol

You are an insular jackass. By what stretch of reasoning can you see JMo as a suitable substitute for Holder. No way Mohammad is a serious bowlimg option in T20 format. He would have to replace a batsman not an allrounder. Be honest and admit that the fool Simmons would be the best casualty for JMo.

I am really sick of you dumb skunts slammimg the Bim players even when your homies aint saying squat.

NYCGURU 2017-03-28 08:17:18

It was almost universally accepted that the eleven that took the field, was just about the best that was available. Now after the result, the Monday morning quarterbacks are out in full force and of course the blind selectors are at fault. Carter and Mohammed should have played. Only if the selectors were blessed with a crystal ball.

DIEHARD 2017-03-28 08:56:44

In reply to Logic

LOL, insularity??

This is more about the lack of proper batsmen in the XI, i think the result made that clear.

And could your tiny brain grasp for a second that its not a like for like replacement i was speaking about, but i had a problem with the configuration of the team, JMo's bowling though useful is not what I would have been relying on.

I think we needed more batting, Holder is hardly an automatic pick in T-20s

The bowling would have been handled by

Narine
Badree
Williams
Carlos
Pollard
Powell/ JMo

HYMS

JMo is my homie??
You and the selectors are the one who's made this about insularity.

I've at different moments in time called for th inclusion of Holder and Carlos in our cricket teams, but based on the current form and records of all involved, JMo could have gotten a run a bal 30, which under the circumstances would have been invaluable.

Jackass, Simmons pick was a mistake, AFTER the result, my post was made at the start of the match, before the first ball was bowled

DIEHARD 2017-03-28 08:58:19

In reply to NYCGURU

See post above, this post wasn't made after the results, but once the teams were selected and I realised Jmo and Taylor missed out.

I thought we needed a batsman, and a not a bits and pieces player like Holder.

CricketLuva4 2017-03-28 09:21:50

In reply to DIEHARD

If J-Mo plays, he will have to bat in the top 4. So which of the top 4 batsmen are you leaving out? He and Holder do not compete for the same place.

It is useless to play proper batsmen below #4 in t20 cricket.

I disagree, J-Mo would have been at 5, for me, you see how early we needed our #5 batsman.

And i expect we will need him that early again if our top order doesn't come off, and if the top order comes off, he can still go a run a ball or a little better whenever he comes in without seriously negatively affecting the run rate.

Or push him down the order if you want to keep upping the ante like we have done with others like Lil B in the past, he's our life jacket, we might not need him, but would be nice to have around if we do, Holder on the other hand, as is, doesnt add anything extra to this team, no value added, not like JMo.

My XI looked like this

Walton
Lewis
Samuels
Simmons
JMo
Pollard
Rovman
Carlos
Narine
Badree
Williams

DIEHARD 2017-03-28 10:29:41

Btw, I really have a lot of confidence in Simmons, but the way he was dismissed, and the fact he aint played any cricket since last year August, makes me think its a coin toss between him and Holder as to who really will add more value to the team in the next T20I.

I did not realise he had been inactive for so long.

I'd give him another try in the next match, but its betting a lot on his ability to get in form immediately

Andy99 2017-03-28 10:42:13

In reply to DIEHARD

Simmons shouldn't be there, man hasn't played any cricket in ages.
Badree too was a toss up with all his injuries but its easier for an older spinner coming back.
Holder doesn't belong in the T20 team.
Carter on his ODI form deserved a place.
And I done with Samuels.

I would've looked at something like:

Lewis
Walton
Mohammed
Carter
Pollard
Powell
Carlos
Mayers
Narine
Badree
Williams/Taylor

Think about that, the top 5 all solid enough if they get a start can bat through, Powell, Carlos and Mayers are all big hitters to finish things off.

Badree and Mayers opens bowling then u have the pace of Williams, Carlos and Powell and the spin of Narine while Mohammed bowling has proven to be economical most times. Pollard and Carter also provide medium pace options.

Mind u this team could still get a cut ass but I think now, with the availability of players its the best we can do.

DIEHARD 2017-03-28 10:43:10

In reply to Andy99

Agreed, Carter would have been a better choice over Simmons, but based on the current squad, it is wht it is

Which is all would like all these critics who cuss us Monday morning QBs to acknolwedge.

Nothings wrong with discussing options for failing players, and considering the better options left on the sideline, nobody's saying we'd win but man, we were World Champions in this format last year.

Holder and Brathwaite's "gentleman's" agreement

So you are not only a jackass but a disingenuous skunt as well. At least the thefacts is simply a jackass.

DIEHARD 2017-03-28 18:04:30

In reply to Logic

What exactly were u supposed to just have exposed?

My lead post was merely poking fun at why these two keep selecting each other in spite of better options left on the sideline.

You know what the word disingenuous means or you just like using words that have more than 3 syllables even if you use them incorrectly?
