Poor India....

Emir 2017-03-28 19:48:05

"Ranked # 1" at a time when the quality of Test Cricket at at an historic low, when the ranking system is fundamentally flawed and even for all its flaws, India still had to pad 17 test matches at home to wear the crown that means very little to the Test Match fan.

However, regardless of how one feels about the BCCI, the Indian players deserve credit for the level of fitness and stamina, to have played 17 test in 6 months and stay fit is indeed a new mark for India's cricket.

With the exception of Kohli, everyone stayed fit.

If India wants global respect, they must win in SA, in Australia, in NZ, in England in the early season and they have to play Pak.

Dude give it a ress man. Your anti Indian bitterness is undermining your objectivity and reasoning.

Face it India is number one. And test cricket has gotten tougher and more Competitive than ever. I have never seen a more competitive series.

Grow up it ain't too late.

When one looks at the technical aspects of the game. The conditioning of the players. The way the game has changed defensively. The catching and ground fielding is spell binding. The use of the review system just improves the quality of competition. So we cannot say the standards have fallen. If anything the standards are higher now

The standard is low
The away tests are too few

By that logic, no team in the world, deserves any respect from anyone!

Because all of them lose in asian pitches ... whether in India or in UAE (vs Pak) and even they find it tough vs SL in SL.

I think your position is untenable, quite frankly, to say the least!

thefacts 2017-03-29 06:31:09

and while we are on the subject of rankings, in my book, it doesn't make an iota of difference to me what is the ranking of the teams playing, all that matters to me is the quality of cricket being played.

If the matches are good entertainment, I am happy! Plain and Simple.

And you made my point exactly. When speaking of a champion, you expect the champs to win in every country and in different condition over a sustained period of time- and yes, as you said, none of the modern team have done it, like the great WI team of the 80's and the Aussie team immediately following them.

The other point, which you did miss, is the padding of home games- and through the power of the purse, the BCCI made it happen and the fundamentally flawed ranking system.

When WI were champions no one questioned their status- ranking system or not, dido for the Aussies- Ask yourself why.

Well sure, and for all of us, is is probably the same, it is why we still follow the game, but this has nothing to do with my post.

Get thefacts straight bro.

wink

Yeah, rankings aren't really a good substitute for a proper league table. But the way that ICC and the FM boards operate, we're stuck with this for the time being.

if standards are that low, how do you explain WI continuous drop in the rankings?

So....India lose away and wins at home.

Everyone else loses in the subcontinent and wins at home (at least the top 6).

So then it must boil down to who is the most dominant at home? Nuh India?

Well sooner or later, the bottom's going to fall out?

Thank goodness that Zimbabwe cheerfully and perpetually props up the rankings list?

I don't even include Zimbabwe and Bangladesh when I look at the rankings Bro. lol

If the Wondies aren't above traditional Test teams like Pakistan and New Zealand they are at the bottom of the barrel in my books.

Quite right, Australia have been beaten in India for the last 12/13 years and have lost in UAE against Pakistan. South Africa is the best of the none asian team when it comes to playing in Asia.

Australia played early spring in England against pakistan for a two match series and looked horrible against the spring swing of Amir and Asif. Australia know if they play an Ashes that early in England they may well lose it. So Emir wants India to go there early when even Australia refuse to. England always hosting minor teams like windies and Sri Lanka early spring.

The great WI of the 80's played in the early season and buss ass, the powerful Ausies that immeidately followed the great WI also played early and won.

I am talking of number one teams here and the way the dominated, this Indian team does not meet that standard and they are only number one based on a flawed ranking system and padding of the schedule to play 17 matches at home.

Look, I think those days of total domination are over.

Simply because today world cricket is far more competitive and varied than what it has been ever.

Today, you have atleast 6 teams that can beat each other on their day:

Aus, Eng, Ind, NZ, Pak and SA.

The same is happening in Soccer. No team is able to dominate the World Soccer stage or even regions: Euro or CONMEBOL.
