His dismissal was an outrage and I am a big fan of Pollard, but today was a blasted stinko and the coach must take some blame for assigning Pollard to go on the attack against the young leggie.
How terrible is this coach to set up your power gun to attack, a very poor strategy

Polly Started the Slide
The reason polly is making runs for other team is because he comes in at the backend that's where he specialise but he often have to come in for Wi and build and innings and he can't find the balance between attack and defense that's just not his game.

He is going through a bad patch after having returning after injury. The WI coach is not handling his batting position well

He is going through a bad patch after having returning after injury. The WI coach is not handling his batting position well
That injury was more than 8 months ago
And this bad patch is too long
he didn't do well in the recent PSL either
He is not playing freely at all
If he plays on Saturday he must go for broke...
In reply to Narper
He had one excellent game where he won the match for his team which took them to the playoffs
He had one good game, his team won
He had one average game, his team won
And he had 3 poor games.
So the evidence proves you wrong, he did ok, it is not correct to say he "didn't do well."
Polly is a victim of public perception... he's trying too hard to live up PC as supernan, and as result he gives his wicket away... I remember him playing an ODI at Providence, where he swang and missed so horribly, and in the process, he did multiple 360 degrees.
If he takes his time to understand the pitch and variances, it induces, he'll do much better.

Dude, my Trident captain is getting close to Cornwall's weight, and has become a Pinch Hitter.
His role on a batting team is to bat with 5-6 overs to go, until he get back to the basics of batting, that means putting in the work, away from competition, he will be a hit or miss batsman.
In reply to Emir
Lots of blame to go around..
Shamuels getting out was key..
I must give him credit the way he batted but in the end lost the war..
He was the only one making batting look easy..
This guy could be so much more but his ego is his biggest handicap..

Polly belly looking like Phil Simmons belly arready

You should give the young leg spinner the credit for bowling a great last over to Samuels, who was justifiably being watchful in an attempt to see him off. Nothing wrong with his approach.
In reply to timeless99
Wrong!!! The reason he is making runs for other teams and not WI is the big class difference. WI plays T20I not the club type hype....
In reply to openning
Pollard and Simmons not playing enough cricket. They need to play in the regional four day competition if they hope to continue their careers. The nets can only do so much.
What shit mean does be talking?
And they saying it like they are experts and its factual.
Read carefully, Polly makes most of his runs when he gets time at the crease.
When he gets time at the crease 2 things happens:
1)He can choose when to attack and when to play the ball around.
2)He can choose which bowlers to take on.
With his form these days, he hasn't hit back to where he was pre-injury fitness-wise too. Don't know if he ever will.
In reply to Narper
Agreed
As far as WI cricket goes, I can't see Polly
Let him continue travelling the leagues; that is other people money
Like he forgot to bat...one day swipe and the other day block
Might trade in my Tridents shirt this CPL

A few reason why we really lost the game yesterday. First lets use start with Walton what are you doing? Samuels is handling the spinner so look to take singles not attack this guy the same goes for Simmons and Pollard. Now the team and coach if you know this Powell guy has an Issue with the leg spinner why not send in The captain or holder? Then we have the third umpire the foot did not touch the ground until it hit the line that was not out. Then comes Narine holder is going great guns you score 2 sweet 4s you miss the next one by a country mile. The bowler then gives you a wide to redeem yourself so now you must look to get holder on strike no you wait until the one before the last ball? how much brain power have you got?
here ends the story of your loss
Polly's wicket did indeed start the slide - but it was poor team tactics to send him in when he was. Even 5 year olds know that Pollard is pants against spin, especially early in his innings. There was no excuse not to send in Narine at that point in time instead. Apart from the unspeakably horrible fielding, this decision cost the West Indies the game.
T20 games are won or lost by the smallest of things - when you gift the opposition 20 runs in the field, and then let their #10 bat smack 25 runs in 10 balls, you can't afford to make further mistakes. Exposing Polly to spin that early in the game was a glaring error.
If you guys watch IPL and Pollard in it, you may notice that his team holds him back till after the 15th or even 16th over - because spinners are likely to be used up by then.

In reply to buds... why you think a call him a shythound.
In reply to Emir
He said it in an interview after the match. To send in attackers when a col head would have gotten us home.
THAT LOSS IS ON THE COACH.
Bad strategy.
Then again he is foreign and not one word will be said against him.
If it was a local boy then we would have heard the WICB loud and clear.
In reply to Domic... so to sum up what you are saying ... dunce cricket. Is like a disease WI cricket ketch and caan get over it.
In reply to rillo... seriously ... Dyson was what. SMH
In time he will get what's coming to him.
In reply to natty_forever
Seriously have you ever heard more excuses for one players failure. The coach send him to early, he cant find the balance between attack and defend, he cant play spin, he is just returning from an injury. I wonder what non Caribbean peeps think when they read this crap. Lol
no matter how we try to intellectualize it
Pollard is still a 20sinting batter in intl cricket after 150+ matches
In reply to Emir
The coach tell him to do dat? Look , that was a poor shot. Leggie toss ball up. You down the track..nowhere near the pitch and you swinging...dat is de coach fault...
Marlon was being over cautious in that over..being cautious doesnt mean you have to be totally passive
In reply to NYCGURU
I'm "non Caribbean". Its not crap - its just reality that Pollard is weak against spin. Team should know its own players strengths and weaknesses; and use the resources to get best out of them.
In reply to Baje
Have a bit of sympathy for "big unit" Pollard. He knew he was going to struggle if he let the ball spin against him. His best bet was to get to the pitch of the ball a few times, and make the leggie go short. He connected once by coming down the wicket - made him feel good, went with a bigger swing the 2nd time, and got nothing but air. Its not as if he made a mistake - he just can't hack it against spin - its a known thing.
In reply to NewsJunkie
Don't waste u time with NYCGURU..He sees no point at looking at a teams mistakes or weaknesses and thinking of ways to combat them.
He just thinks we're not good enough and should keep going through the motions.
Never mind we're currently world champions in this format

Well he isn't wrong though about the first part is he? Windies are shockingly bad at the moment. I did not watch the 1st t20, but watched the entire 2nd one. I have never seen an international team field that badly. And the batting for a big chunk was headless chicken stuff. They earned that loss out there, and worked really hard for it.
Braithwaite seems out of his depth as captain. He's still a developing player who wouldn't be bowling as much as he is, if he wasn't Captain. Why aren't Russell and Dwayne Bravo playing? WICB issues?
Windies cricket needs to figure out a way to end the Board-player conflict - they simply don't have the luxury of playing without all their best players available. I don't like the Windies being this weak in cricket - its a shame.
Pollard has come in when Narine was ripping apart Mumbai Indians and he played out Narine successfully. Multiple times in the IPL, check it.
Difference is with Narine, and Narine the only spinner I've seen him do this to, is that he shows him respect and doesn't go after him. Every other spinner Pollard goes after to try and get the upper hand. Again think back or check. If it was a pacer he would've looked for the singles.
It was the right move to send in Pollard after all he has how many years and matches of experience, it was just lack of brains at that moment to go for that shot.
In reply to NewsJunkie
The first part he was right about, if you mean the possible explanations for our failure.
But he doesnt really believe any of that.
The trend in all of his posts is that we are merely making excuses for incompetence or pushing our personal agendas. He can't believe that someone can objectively see different strategies/ selections for WI success, since the ones we are currently applying are leading to repeated failure.
I on the other hand believe West Indies just keep choosing the wrong strategies.
Russell is currently banned for a anti-doping policy violation, and DJB is injured.
In reply to Emir
you blaming the coach?
seriously?? Did the coach walk in with the bat in his hand?
Since when WI players start listening to coach?
I see we have looked at everything except ????
What happened in the last 3 overs that Pakistan batted ????
Look at it and see how many runs they scored, errors made by West Indies.
That's where we lost the match.
Our Bowlers and fielding cost us the game at that time.
Polly made a dumb swipe in conclusion.
The Pakistan young bowler gets them when they play him on the back foot.
Play on the front foot and meet the ball when it's about to hit the pitch.
Move thy feet folks.
