Doctors not exempt

From President Trump's anti-immigration initiative.

Two prominent Houston doctors facing removal by immigration officials to their native India have been granted a temporary, 90-day reprieve while they try to sort the paper-work that will allow them to continue living and working legally in the United States.

The married couple are both neurologists and faced removal Thursday after immigration officials refused at the last minute to extend their temporary permission to stay in the U.S., potentially jeopardizing the care of dozens of patients who have specialized surgeries scheduled with the two doctors in coming weeks.

It's the latest example of the government taking an unusually hard line on immigration and declining to consider cases on an individual basis.

When will he set his sights on the telephone systems expertise expatriates originating from the good doctors' home country?

Seriously though, this guy campaigned that he would rid the country of criminal hombres. Do these people fit the profile?

Those patients now left without the surgeons' expertise, were they Trump supporters and voters?

Absolute chaos.

Since when did the immigration authorities stop dealing with people in the USA 'illegally'? Is not this a crime and the breakers of this law regarded as criminals? TRUMP OF NO TRUMP, SHOULD THE IMMIGRATION AUTHORITIES FORGET THEM? Should not these 'Good samaritans do the right thing and make their status legal?

This happened.

In the 1980s an acquaintance of mine in New York's Brooklyn, a Jamaican here in the US for some 10 years illegally and not doing well health-wise, presented himself to the immigration authorities and requested to be deported.

He was offered a ride to the airport.

I could relate other stories also.

Reading the article says this was mostly about bumbling bureaucracy than any illegality – these two people were following immigration prescribed procedures which were abruptly changed without notice

The goodly doctor would do well to administer an elixir to put him out of his misery as humanely as possible, maybe even a cold tasty tincture. smile
