...this is thought provoking.

I still believe that in cricket the LBW decision should be solely up to the standing umpire! I'm not convince that the technology available is 100% accurate! wink

Good article. Fortunately I think we're still a way away from having robot officials in team sports... although the advances in technology mean anything's possible.

...Two questions arise naturally from your post:

(i) Is it your belief that the umpires are 100% accurate...and a follow up question.

(ii) Assuming that they are not 100% accurate, are the umpires more accurate than the technology?

No to both! I can live with the umpire's decision even if he is not 100%. To err is human! Having played this game competitively for years I have learn to accept that!

It is because many who have played the game competitively for years have grown dissatisfied with the many wrong umpires' decisions, that the authorities were forced to bring in available technology to aid the 'on field' umpires. I believe that when a player sees the review of the umpire's decision, they will mostly feel satisfied with those borderline cases that may have gone against them Please note, I say satisfied, because I understand that they have to ACCEPT the umpire's decision. I believ that the use of technology has improved the 'on field conditions and harmony among players, despite it not being 100% accurate. In Any event, it seems to be a real help to the umpires in their decision making.

Don't you worry. His moniker gives support to the technology.
