Maybe a finisher is needed, but today we needed a middle. We got ok start, I blinked twice and the whole middle had fallen out

Here is the captain of your team, dissing the organization, and basicaly inciting folks to rid themselves of you. In Dave's eyes, he can no longer trust Dwayne or Sammy to be loyal to the cause.
An intermediary is necessary to breech the gap, and to engender some form of trust on both sides.

Why bring them back? Simmons, Pollard, Bravo and Sammy have passed their sell by date..

Pollard and Simmons were quite poor in this series. Pollard in particular looked foolish with the bat especially against the 18 year old..
