So, the US leadership decides unilaterally to punish other countries.
This is "good", some say, because it shows that the new leader is "strong", "not scared like the former leader", and now has a chance to "reboot" his relationship with the US public.
The UN says nothing and seems cowed, but the other unilateral decider out there starts grumbling about it. Nice. A nuclear war could be brewing, but we care mostly about our leaders. Some would want the US to be defined by its leader, just as Putin has already done.
Wasn't that how things went as Rome crumbled?

i think you are so right - my first reaction on seeing the kids dying was to agree that Trump did the right thing ---- now i know this was all about politics - and that is as bad as the Asad bombing
