Looks like this one lost to England but we stuck with Brathwaite and Holder.

Outbowled vernon philander and led the attack at 20 years old ..former England bowler Ajmal Shahzad said in a tweet that he is the best young seamer on the circuit and will one day be a star.

Like Chris Jordan he has a U.K. Passport and has chosen Sussex for his careeer...if you want to know why ask Jordan, Corey collymore,Dwayne smith or vasbert drakes. It not just Barbados that has Brighton, worthing and Hastings.

hawk 2017-04-14 21:57:49

i doubt he would have made it to the PCL by now, can't see him getting a spot in the pride roster and dont see him being picked up by any of the other franchises, i wish him well in England

Mayers, Reifer, Hope and Primus were picked up by other rosters?

analyst-kid 2017-04-14 22:04:24

In reply to hawk

He would have been picked that last match vs Red Force when B'dos fast bowling stocks were severely depleted and he would have been continuing in the next match.

what convinces you that this would be the case???

s?

exactly.......and you think another one would be selected???

voiceofreason 2017-04-14 22:25:43

In reply to hawk

Leewards selected Hosein and Bonner so I could see them selecting him. Opportunity is there I just believe he wants to play for England.

the road to England is a long one and Fickle, i dont even see Jordan making the test side again, i wish him well

In reply to hawk

O'Neal and McSween played for Barbados only because Archer wasn't around.

voiceofreason 2017-04-14 23:12:05

In reply to analyst-kid

Did Mcsween ever play? He was in the squad but as far as I recall he did not get a game.

both very ineffective and very forgettable

doosra 2017-04-15 06:38:09

1 year central contract in England is about 700k pounds plus match fees etc.

He will need to play a decade here to make that

The economics simple

TanteMerle 2017-04-15 07:05:42

Forget about him.

He has desires on playing for Hinglnd.

He made their A team against the touring Paks
last year and took five wickets in he game.

He will play for Hingland next year for sure.

A good allrounder.

I know his parents.

His stepdad is one of my best friends.

He followed his career and pushed him.

Spent many hours bowling to him etc..

hawk 2017-04-15 07:27:51

we are not the only nation losing players to England, it is unfortunate CWI should target adding another franchise to the PCL in another five years, this would give additional players more opportunities, of course they need to do the economics ensure it is not a financial flop

analyst-kid 2017-04-15 09:21:17

From the look of things Keon Harding, Chemar Holder and Shamar Springer better keep training as it's clear they will be part of the Barbados four day shake up later this year. Archer would have been there too but he has greener pastures.

WICFan 2017-04-15 09:42:01

What is the average wage/wage structure for a player with a PCL contract?

Priapus 2017-04-15 09:50:28

In reply to WICFan

Minimum $15000.00 Greenbacks per season. I suppose the test players make a bit more than that.

hawk 2017-04-15 10:06:25

In reply to analyst-kid

not sure about a shake up, but those three need to included in the draft even if they don't end up on the pride roster, they need to be playing FC cricket consistently

analyst-kid 2017-04-15 11:17:35

In reply to hawk

right now Barbados playing a FC match at Kensington without a genuine fast bowler. Two medium pacers to open the bowling.

What does that tell you....Archer would have played here if he had made himself available!

doosra 2017-04-15 18:27:45

In reply to WICFan

contracts range from about 15000 a season to 30000

plus match fees (1300 a match)

so technically one can earn a minimum of 15,000 (no match fees) - 43,000 (10 match fees)

moneybrain 2017-04-15 18:38:44

Archer played for Sussex against the Pakistanis last year took 4 for 49 @2.3 when they made 350++. He has much ability! cool

doosra 2017-04-15 18:43:01

Archer came back with 60* batting at 11

Curtis 2017-04-15 19:08:27

A programme of core work in England and Barbados, coupled with regular physiotherapy helped him get stronger and take the strain away from his back. Watching him bowl, you do wonder where the strain comes from. His action is like no other: velvet strides to the crease that shine the grass beneath his feet, before a gather with all the grace of Gene Kelly skipping over a puddle takes him into delivery. Think of the equivalent of the Moonwalk but going forward, and you're barely halfway there.

rass man - sounds like one that we should've kept

Given that guy first needs to make a regional team and that a no-name TnT batting line up just pummel your guys for 500 plus, shouldn't your first post be edited to read:...."but we are stuck with Louis and other such dottie crappers".

voiceofreason 2017-04-16 16:45:51

In reply to Logic

Louis has good potential so I would not count him out. Tonge is on his way out. Leewards is always on search for new talent but we have not had a tournament in years so we are unable to identify new local talent. They may well be Archer's in the Leewards but until we have tournaments we will never know.

Larr Pullo 2017-04-16 17:00:57

Bajans are traitors to the cause. Always looking to play for England. Only CG Greenidge refused to take that opportunity when it was offered.

doublecentury 2017-04-16 17:10:29

In reply to Larr Pullo

That of course is a false narrative....greenidge played for years for hampshire and played in England before Barbados.

Players must seek out places for sustainable professional development because it may not be possible in West Indies.

Not sure what your "cause " is other than being a troll.

Jofra has dual citizenship ,went to school in England and his Dad lives in Liverpool and sure didn't have a bajan accent when I spoke to him. Leave the lad alone and wish him well without that Bajans are traitors bullshit...

I am not a bajan and have no doubt that Sussex has more to offer than Barbados for him right now.

Larr Pullo 2017-04-16 17:12:10

In reply to doublecentury

Yeah but when faced with an England Cap or WI, what did he do?

doublecentury 2017-04-16 17:17:18

In reply to Larr Pullo

Nobody has offered him any cap...he is 20 years old...he is trying to make a living and had no other sustainable professional opportunity.

Larr Pullo 2017-04-16 17:24:02

He'd well heed the treatment of Chris Jordan.

Yes I am sure he will ....

what is Chris's treatment, a nice county contract?

cherri 2017-04-16 20:07:59

In reply to Larr Pullo

Is Chris complaining about the treatment that you know he get/getting?, ask the Establishment what they did to facilitate Chris, season after season he would come home to Bim and play for the YMPC all the while the establishment tip toeing through the tulips and sharking, the petty fucking establishment that ruining not running west indies cricket, when it come down to making a decent decision them cayn commit talking bout home grown, but still the home grown that they touting bout de place like dem get spray wid roundup...........you are fine to sit in your armchair and chat the most fuckery when you want to.........please.......

CJ is very happy at Sussex and they have treated him well facilitating an England and IPL career. If you ask Bajans in the know like Corey collymore , Dwayne smith , vasbert drakes they will say no better place to learn your trade.

There are many many young cricketers who would like such an opportunity.

Jofra Archer did NOT go to school in England. He is a product of the Foundation School in Barbados.

Tryangle 2017-04-17 08:13:45

Well done to Archer and hope he makes something of himself playing in the pros.

This match also saw Delray Rawlins become the first Bermuda-born-and-raised player to play county cricket (at first class level). smile

So good news all around from my pov.
