As a person that is into fitness, I cringe everytime I see them march. This high impact marching cannot be good for the legs and feet.

Good question. Soldiers March when they are in large groups. Special units, (parades and ceremonies) probably more.

I see a lot of them are wearing tennis shoes, that would confirm my suspicion. Boots would be the preferred foot wear in parades, unless they cause injuries.

Ain't that what the Taliban and ISIS wear? They're pretty successful at running around in tennis shoes.
