Pride vs Scorpions
Scorpions on paper looks like the stronger team but if Pride can put up a 200+ score on the first day...they will have the edge.
Very true.
In reply to althes
Alleyne had a fast start to the season but it look like him buss.
Teams:
Barbados Pride - Kevin Stoute (captain), Anthony Alleyne, Kyle Corbin, Jonathan Carter, Ryan Wiggins, Kenroy Williams, Mario Rampersaud, Justin Greaves, Ashley Nurse, Sulieman Benn, Jomel Warrican.
Jamaica Scorpions- Nikita Miller (captain), Fabian Allen, Paul Palmer, John Campbell, Jermaine Blackwood, Dennis Bulli, Devon Thomas, Chadwick Walton, Trevon Griffith, Jerome Taylor, Derval Green.
Pride has no newbies here. All of this eleven has played at this level...Pride like the Barbados team of the old Shell Shield have put all their emphasis on the bowling allrounders to carry their batting to nine...Greaves,Williams and Nurse.
a lethal FC spin trio in Nurse,Benn and Warrican all familiar to Kensington.
Taylor has to prove he is the difference in this match as will Blackwood and Walton...Pride's top bats are Carter and Stoute.
Carter back in the pavillon already...so much for proving himself.
c wkpr b Green 10
In reply to analyst-kid
Green and Taylor have a wicket each so far.
This game lasting 3 days.
only one recognised bat left in Stoute with two down already.
As I said the empahsis on Greaves,Williams,Rampersaud and Nurse to make runs.
Wiggins caught by the slip Blackwood off Alleyne 1
could somebody tell me what has happened to Kirk Edwards?
Stoute that loyal soldier of Barbados cricket has to come to wipe the shame off we face again.
Stoute is gone.
In reply to analyst-kid
That's a really inexperienced Bim batting lineup team.
If JA can't beat them then they would have played poorly.
In reply to althes
Green gets his second wicket. Stoute out for 11.
65/4...can Barbados make 150 fartherless 200?
I still think Greaves,Williams and Nurse are superior bats to the top order guys ...they have nothing to lose...but can they withstand Miller?
Barbados 76-4
Corbin 43 not out
Williams seven not out
Corbin gets his half century.
Corbin playing out of skin here.
In reply to althes
50 and out. Bulli gets his wicket.
I said this earlier before the match started
and later
I still think Greaves,Williams and Nurse are superior bats to the top order guys ...they have nothing to lose...but can they withstand Miller?
Barbados 180/5 Williams 60* Greaves 50*
Gimme some credit as an analyst nuh!
scorpion lost its sting!
In reply to analyst-kid
Williams finally out for 82. Bulli gets the wicket.
Barbados can declare now. Any score over 250 is a good one in the PCL.
Very good recovery by Bim. Definitely didn't see this coming...figured 150-200 at best
Congrats Greaves...ton under pressure
Does Pride recovery means Scorpion skipper is no good?
In reply to analyst-kid
Maybe 350 then
Good fightback by the Pride. They put themselves in a slightly better position than the Scorpions, but the match is still wide open.
In reply to Norm
My theory is once Pride makes 300 runs..it will be an uphill task for the Scorpions now.
Lets see if Allen/Bulli and Miller are more dangerous than Nurse/Benn and Warrican at Kensington.
In reply to analyst-kid
Another loss for JA..We do not have the batsmen to score over 200..
However my hope is that Blackwood and Allen do well..
JA suck..
Coach gotta go
In reply to buds
Actually prior to the match I felt BOTH teams would struggle to make 200.
When the Scorpions had the Pride on the ropes at 98/5 with Miller to bowl...I was wondering if the Pride would make 150.
But I did identify Greaves,Williams and Nurse as the three best batsmen Pride has on show and they delivered, Williams dropped anchor and was adept at handling pace and spin.
Realistically Blackwood should make a century on this good batting pitch but with three bowlers in Nurse,Benn and Warrican who have all routed Jamaica in the past to bowl last I really wonder.
In reply to analyst-kid
I thought so too that BIM would fold meekly but, they showed what a well coached team can do. Miller could have done things differently, not sure that it would matter. BIM is well coached and the players are damn good players.
Blackwood is a disappointment-Lets see if he can do something special..
In reply to analyst-kid
Greaves out for a well played 114. Green gets his third wicket.
Roland Butcher is saying this is a damn good batting pitch and the Scorpions will not roll over here...he thinks Barbados has no genuine pace bowlers and their spinners will have to work hard for their wickets.
Look at muh crosses...one time Bim had opening attack dat had man frighten. Now we opening de bowling wid a spinner and a slow medium paceer

Greaves continues to challenge Reifer and Chase for the title of leading allrounder in the tournament.
Primus is fourth in the regional allrounder rankings.
FOUR BAJANS....imagine that!

Have Barbados enforced the follow on or will they bat again?
Allen looks like a Yam licker
In reply to buds
A wicket for the yam-licker....

111/1 Walton 70 Griffith 22 but honestly how it looks if Walton falls ...Warrican and one those spinners will run thru this Jamaican team.
bat all day 4 yad
In reply to analyst-kid
A target of 174 ..on what is still a good batting wicket, at 114/1...one would like Jamaica's chances
Simple, no-risk batting should get the job done shortly after tea
but knowing my fellow Jamaicans, they may make a pigs breakfast out of it
I hope the Scorpions win this match.
In reply to openning
It would be a herculean batting effort, by PCL standards....
#BARvJAM 100 PARTNERSHIP! 219 BALLS, 124 MINS, 9X4, 3X6. Scorpions 128-1 (45 ov) Walton 71, Griffith 38. TARGET: 341.

I'm encouraged by the progress so far..still very early in the day...I hope these two don't leave the job to anyone else
In reply to SirGarny
Too late!
#BARvJAM BREAKTHROUGH! Griffith c Nurse b Warrican 53. Scorpions 2nd inns 162-2 (52.4 overs) New batsman is Jermaine Blackwood. TARGET: 341.
#BARvJAM CAUGHT! Walton c Corbin b Williams 93 (181 balls, 194 mins, 7x4, 3x6). New batsman is Paul Palmer Jr. TARGET: 341.
the way how Warrican and Williams bowling if Blackwood don't stop them...they will run through this Scorpion line-up.
I said this from late evening yesterday.
From Jamaica standpoint try not to lose more than two more wickets before lunch.
250/5 the first target here.
In reply to analyst-kid... 250/3 that should be, we already lost two wickets.
#BARvJAM CAUGHT! Palmer Jr c Carter b Warrican 5. Scorpions 2nd inns 176-4 (58.5 overs) New batsman is Devon Thomas. TARGET: 341.
#BARvJAM 200 UP! 379 balls, 226 mins, 17x4, 6x6. Scorpions 2nd Inns 200-4 (63 overs) Blackwood 22, Thomas 6, TARGET: 341.
In reply to mikesiva
"Blackwood 22"
Time for Blackwood to justify his place..
if he can't defend and score against regional bowling, how can we expect success at the top level?
In reply to SirGarny... my sentiments.
In reply to natty_forever
we need a ton from Blackwood today...after Thomas there's really no one left to bat with him
disappointed Chadwick couldn't finish with a century..93 is good...I'll take it any day
In reply to SirGarny... a 93 from Blacks and we win.
240/5 Blackwood out....
100 runs to go...I would say advantage Scorpions.
In reply to analyst-kid
#BARvJAM CAUGHT! Blackwood c Nurse b Benn 44. Scorpions 241-5 (74.4 overs) Thomas 23*. Lunch will be taken now.
#BARvJAM OUT - Campbell 10,Griffith 53, Walton 93, Palmer Jr 5, Blackwood 44; Williams 1-33,Benn 1-48, Warrican 2-57, Nurse 1-54 .
In reply to mikesiva
can the Jamaican tail wag for another 90+ runs?
The one thing Barbados got going for them is that they will be starting after lunch at one new batsman and another who has to settle down all over again.
In reply to analyst-kid
Make that two new batsmen. Thomas out for 24.
2nd Inns 251-8 (79.3 overs)
New batsman is Nikita Miller.
Pride 2 wickets away.
In reply to buds
Yam licker gets a half century.
In reply to mikesiva
Well, at least he has been a consistent yam-licker. Cannot say the same thing for most of the other Jamaican batsmen. In hindsight, he should have ben in this squad all along.
In reply to yardman83
Those sixes are all straight. The man playing through the line. Not yam licking.
In reply to anadayardi
I just following the line of argument here still. He has been consistently scoring runs. At least a 50 in each game he has played.
In reply to mikesiva
Yeah--Good knock..From what I saw he is a big strong guy(Mason love that)--My first impression was that he did not look the part but, I guess I was wrong..He has been very consistent unlike most of our batsmen..
