HETMYER FOR ....

ellisstreet 2017-04-15 13:09:41

The First Test ... This youth is better than Lewis, Powell and Ambris

Investing in real youth...I seh yeah. The irony is Pakistan would done so. Known for such policies.

Kay 2017-04-15 13:15:35

He had quite a few good starts for Guyana this season but just threw them away. Hope he converts this one.... just needs to temper that aggression a bit

Hetmeyer is a real talent. I have no issues with his selection for the Pres XI but will not rush him into the test squad.

Narper 2017-04-15 13:28:38

Absolutely not ready for TEST cricket

jen 2017-04-15 14:03:18

Pakistan bowling attack will be strong, I say its a blessing in disguise for those young ones missing this series.
big grin

You think that would impede Powell's chances of a return?

voiceofreason 2017-04-15 14:09:14

In reply to Drapsey

Both can play in the squad. As we speak Hetmeyer gone for 97. Powell is livid!

Let me tell you something. The West Indies Hierarchy want Powell as Captain.

Drapsey 2017-04-15 14:09:33

Oops, out for 97.

Narper 2017-04-15 14:10:47

Hety caught Younus Khan b Yasir Shaw 97

Beamer 2017-04-15 14:14:24

Shame he didn't get his century, but this time he didn't give it away, he edged a good delivery from Yasir Shah and was brilliantly caught at slip by Younis Khan. There's no shame in that. I watched most of his innings and his strokeplay was stunning, he basically caned a World class bowling attack.

I say give him the rest of the season, play him in all tour/A team matches and maybe then select him on the tour of England. He just needs to get a couple more hundreds to his name to go with his consistency.

Hetmyer in my opinion is ready for the big show..WI are in need of a good attacking batsman in the Roy Fredricks mode..Hety is no Fredricks yet but I think he has real talent...toss him into the deep end let's see how he copes.

ellisstreet 2017-04-15 15:59:46

Coach Law will request his inclusion in the Test squad

jacksparrow 2017-04-15 16:14:05

Leadership quality and strokeplayer. Groom him for OFI captaincy.

anthonyp 2017-04-15 16:16:00

Hety need ah little more experience... hopefully he could be our Warner... razz

YOu fellas desperate boy....A batsman scores a coupla times and force ripe him in the Test team against a potent bowling attack like the Pakis'

When he fails he is dumped and he becomes history ...a budding talent destroyed. Is that the way we want it?

doosra 2017-04-15 16:58:47

Said it eaflier in season that he'd be ready after another full season.

He's still learning to balance aggression and defence

He will be here for the long run.

Yes, he surely does. I wouldn't rush him.
On another note, I see Paul got 6 wickets. MASSIVE!

The fellas nah learn. I like Hetymyer but give him some time still. Next season. My two favorite young Guyanese players: Hetmyer and Paul.

On a good note players from the U-19 championship team are performing well so far: Joseph, Carty, Paul, Hetmyer. Looking to hear more from Gidron Pope and Chemar Holder.

If Shamar Springer gets a chance I'm sure he's gonna do good too... the youngsters need to play!

Time to get rid of some of the deadweight....

WI are in need of a good attacking batsman in the Roy Fredricks mode.

If you recall...Freddo early test innings were fighting innings...Freddo could be patient...he could graft...and of course could go after the bowling

Hety has not shown he could put his head down and bat...all his FC innings of note to date have been swashbuckling ones...

I have no doubt in my mind he is going to be our next real test opener in the mode of Freddo, Geeenidge and Haynes.....he already has all the shots....but he needs more mental development for test cricket....in dung heap he gives it away far too often.

Another full season or two he would be ready

doosra 2017-04-15 18:31:32

between now and next season he and others should be doing A team tours

Narper 2017-04-15 18:32:26

Correct.

Andy99 2017-04-15 18:36:29

In reply to Narper

Good points, it might be better for him to play regionals and A team to fully prepare him.
But I still would like to see him in WI team.
