Which one would you promote to the test team?

The Cheese or Hetmeyer?
Both.
If you really had to choose one, go with Vishaul Singh.
Good to see the second line putting good pressure on the first line again.

Somebody say Cheese!
In reply to Norm
Why would you go with Cheese?
In reply to Larr Pullo
The middle order needs a rock, around which the other middle order batsmen could rally.
Unlike many others, however, I think Hetmyer is ready to progress to Test cricket. His "kill or be killed" batting attitude will put pressure on opposition bowlers, but the higher quality bowling will help him to hone his skills better and quicker.
In reply to Norm
You have him replacing Blackwood?

Sope or Slope, his career is at a slippery point.

So y u keeping Chase and Dow and putting Blackwood out to pasture?
Yardie nuh deserve to eat a food?
In reply to XDFIX
u have to earn a food!
In reply to Larr Pullo
Blackwood deserves his drop. He needs to understand opportunity and fortune are things you don't take for granted.
In reply to Larr Pullo
The biggest reason to play Hetmyer tho is that he will start to bring the crowds back to West Indies Test matches, everywhere. No other player has been so exciting in recent years.
In reply to Norm
Not if he performs like Shai Hope in the opening position
In reply to Narper
Hope can bat with Hety?
In reply to methodic
Yep....if they are sent out together
In reply to Narper
In reply to Larr Pullo
What qualifications do these skunts have?
In reply to googly1961
Hety lead Windies to a world cup.
That makes him ready for the cut and thrust and heat of Test cricket?
In reply to Narper
Give Shai Hope some time. He could develop into a world class player, especially with better support from the other batsmen.
Hetmyer and Singh may be the two to tilt the balance and bring production to the top and stability to the middle. The other Bajan batsmen that we love to malign - Chase, Dowrich, etc - have improved gradually at the Test level.
It is also interesting that players like Ambris are waiting in the wings to pounce on any batting spots that open up. Looks like the days of free Chandrika-like rides are coming to an end.
In reply to XDFIX
Blackwood remains part of the long term plans but he needs some serious scores, lots of chances has been given to him without much to show, his possible replacement has been doing very well
In reply to Norm
It was plain wrong to ask young Hope to open.
In reply to googly1961
it's going to be a learning process, it always is.
In reply to methodic
Sadly boys are sent into war with men. West Indies Test cricket team always learning on the job..
In reply to googly1961
correct, and replaces a boy with a toddler and him to do a man's job
One should not get too carried away wih exuberance over how a player performs in a warmup match against any touring team.
One should be mindful of the fact that a touring team usually use these matches against Presidents X1 as organized net practice where they can acclamatise themselves with unfamiliar conditions and workout the kinks in their bowling and batting in preparation for matches where their performance really matters .
I will go with hyttie. I see leadership qualities down the road. Think it time we rebuild with some real young players. Introduce them to a high of competition and grow a fresh test team even thou we lose. They will get better. Just start the process

Considering all the unavailable players, this really is our best batting order:
KB
Powell/Lewis
Hetmeyer
Vishaul
J Mo
Chase
Dowrich/Hope (wk)
Jason
Bishoo
Joseph/Cummins
Gabriel
In reply to Larr Pullo
Neither, but if I had to pick ONE, it'd be Hety. Reasoning is that you play people in position, Hety is a top order player and Vishaul is suited more to #5/6.
I'd be tempted to call Hety a 100 test player, but I don't know if WI have 100 tests left.
You guys are going to be surprised when the team is announced on Monday night.
In reply to CricketLuva4
EPIC. RESPECT!
In reply to TheTrail
And what makes you think that 7 Bajans in the team will surprise anyone? Isn't Browne still the chief selector?
