Powell
Hope
-------------Vishaul vs Hetmeyer
Blackwood
Chase
Dowrich (wk)
Jason (Cappo)
Bishoo
Joseph----------Cummins
Gabriel

* I would give the cap first to Vishaul.

In the long run, i see Hope and Blackwood out, and see Hetty at No.3 and J Mo at No.5

I am really liking most of the core of this team...

and I am hoping, that when the time comes for the Pommie tour, the selectors would pick Jerome, J Mo, Cornwall, Lewis & Ambris too.

The Core 16 I would like to see

KB
Powell-------------Lewis
Hetmeyer
Vishaul
J Mo
Chase-------------Cornwall
Dowrich-----------Ambris
Jason
Jerome------------Joseph
Bishoo
Gabriel------------Cummins

MERIT based Selection...

Honestly getting Lil Bravo back in the mix soon, would be great.

In the long run you see Hope out? Can't be Shai Hope you talking about. I have high hopes for him. And for a bajan, he plays spin fairly well big grin

I would play Joseph ahead of Gabriel. If Gabriel where to play i would drop Bishoo.

Dorwich is not as good as Hope

He doesn't know BATSMAN. smile

They should both play. Blackwood has no business being around a West Indian team.

My guess is, since Shai and Blackwood have been picked, they will play.

Two debutants at 3 and 4, i.e Hetmeyer & Vishaul, might be a stretch.

But crazier things have happened, so never know.

That's an opinion.

However, A Test Average of 17 is a FACT.

Depends on what is meant by "in the long run" otherwise you are not rational, just emotional.

Hope and Blackwood will be there for a long time.

I like what I see in Blackwood. Only 25 years old, played 22 test matches with nine 50's and one century. Scores of 85 and 47 not out to win the match for the W.I and level the series against England in 2015. Named man of the match.

Cannot discard a player with these stats and the obvious potential at such a young age.

Depends on the batting order they choose. I don't believe they will put Hope at #3.

If the spot is #3, Hety; if it's #4/5, then Vishaul. You try and play people in their accustomed position.

Hetmyer is potentially a great batsman. The last West Indian batsman of this quality was Daren Bravo. In time everybody will deny that they picked people like Vishal Singh and Jerome Blackwood et al ahead of Hety. I am sure that Jeffrey Dujon vividly remembers the day when he lambasted the selectors picking Shiv ahead of Roland Holder.

Agreed

thefacts 2017-04-18 10:28:11

So based on responses, looks like Hetmyer has his nose ahead at No.3

Most likely we should then see this XI ..

Powell
Hetmeyer
Hope
Blackwood
Chase
Dowrich (wk)
Jason (cappo)
Bishoo
Joseph
Gabriel

... until our wkt-keeper can bat at six, we going struggle to beat teams ranked above us.
