Political opportunism...but this may be a good opportunity for Labour to finally get rid of the inept Corbyn after he loses bigly!

Yes indeed. Britain is a country in decline. British voters are in denial that they can become Great again. This an opportunity for British voters to decide whether they want a fairer Britain or a xenophobic Britain where they blame all their ills on immigrants.

We will see what they prefer on June 8.

May wanted to call the election before the negative impact of Brexit is felt. When the market finally realises that she can't get a free trade deal with the European Union because of her intransigent stance on freedom of movement then the pound will tumble again. She wants to win another four years before that happens.

My son migrated to Japan to take up a job and so far he is happier than he was in the UK. Opportunities have been drying up in this country since Brexit but all British voters can focus on is pouring out hatred at immigrants even if it means screwing their own economy. They are like the German supporters of Hitler in the 1930s.

Corbyn might lose and may resign but blairites are going to be disappointed if they think there will be a return to New labour. The only way the labour party can stop a corbyn disciple like mcdonnell or Thornbury from succeeding him is if they rig a Labour election to prevent the nomination of a candidate supported by the majority of Labour party supporters.

That is the hypocrisy of British democracy. Blairites may just try to go down that path.
