In reply to DIEHARD

Wow...not good

Narper 2017-04-21 10:00:57

Younis Khan is just 23 runs short of becoming the first Pakistan player to notch up 10,000 Test runs, while Misbah is 49 short of 5000.

Both players should go past their respective landmarks, but they will be happier if Pakistan can throw up worthy replacements. They will not find a better series than the one against West Indies to experiment and find potential contenders for the spots
.

solidrock 2017-04-21 10:51:46

Blackwood has been batting lousy. No problem with him being dropped. It took guts not to play Blackwood in front of home crowd at Bina. Good fortitude! First time in 40 years that no Jamaican is not in a team playing at Bina!

Congratulations to Hetmyer and Singh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Go for the sky! We are behind both of you.

he has to watch out for the ball that comes in late (wishful advice)

Drapsey 2017-04-21 11:14:29

In reply to thefacts

I'm just being proactive.

When we get bowled out for a sub-par score, the pitch will certainly be attributed.

For once I have to say the selectors seem to be putting some though into their selctions, fast tracking Hetmyer into the West Indies Senior Team, and recognizing Singh. I really hope Hetmyer puts his head down, forget IPL riches and establish himself.I still believe he is ideally suited for limited overs but wishing him all the best.
Good Luck Guys

Hetmyer looks like a strong off-side player.

He is leaving the ball well.

One apparent weakness seems he isn't playing with soft hands. Not looking to drop the ball or work them for singles.

300.

Nick40H 2017-04-21 11:57:34

In reply to Drapsey C'mon, I like Hetmyer as much as anybody and I look forward to great things in the future - but 'not a bad debut' is when you make 40 or 50 and fail to convert to a big score. He was dismissed by intelligent fast bowling, but this is no hell hole of a pitch. It's giving the pace bowlers assistance, but this is Day 1 of a test match - that's what you want, not a T20 flat track. This type of pitch separates the pretenders from the real deal. All now, Hetmeyer should be replaying the tape, talking to Jimmy Adams and asking how he could have protected this off stump better. That ball would have dismissed many more experienced left handers however.

CricketLuva4 2017-04-21 11:59:00

In reply to Nick40H

He was set up nicely, bunch of outswingers then one that nipped back. Thought it kept low but it was just good bowling.

14.2
Amir to Vishaul Anthony Singh, no run, if only I had a word better than peach to describe what Amir just bowled. Kept it up around off and the ball veered away after kissing the deck. All this while Vishaul Anthony Singh had lost his balance on the push and is lucky to have evaded the edge there

Narper 2017-04-21 12:16:55

15.1
Riaz to Vishaul Anthony Singh, FOUR, first runs in Test cricket for him. Bit of room outside off and Singh cracks it past the man at gully

In reply to mikesiva Yes, probably. But the cupboard almost bare and he is one of the few bright sparks around. I think he has the skill, but it's a question of whether he has the mental game yet. We'll see... Now that he's in the team I hope they play him for the whole series.

Narper 2017-04-21 12:35:29

19.4
Riaz to Vishaul Anthony Singh, out Caught by Azhar Ali!! Azhar Ali takes a good low catch at square leg. Riaz has snared Singh with some smart bowling. Was a bit short, had bowled a bouncer too and now follows with a full ball on the legs. Vishaul gets across to flick, falls over a bit and is unable to keep it along the ground. Debut innings comes to a premature end.

In reply to thefacts

Hety takes a middle stump guard to a left arm pacer coming over the wicket. It's no wonder his off stump left the ground.

Had he taken a middle to off or even an off stump guard that same delivery would have struck him on the pads and maybe even outside the line thereby negating the LBW shout. Lots of in inexperience there. Hopefully he learns.

Yasir Shah to Dowrich, out Bowled!! Two in two. Yasir is on a hat-trick. Can you believe it? Both set batsmen are back in the hut. Pakistan have roared back into this contest.

Dowrich b Yasir Shah 56(130) [4s-9]

69.3
Yasir Shah to Roston Chase, out Caught by Riaz!! Oh goodness! Has he taken it? He has. Wahab Riaz pulls off a blinder of a catch. The umpires converge and decide to send the matter upstairs. The soft signal is out. Fair delivery. Looks fine to me. OUT flashes on the screen. Needed some brilliance like this to break the stand. What an absolute scremer. Let me explain how it happened: Chase miscues a loft straight down the ground. Riaz from mid-on, backtracked, transfixed his eyes on the ball and clasps it airborne near the boundary ropes. He tumbles over and makes sure his body doesn't get in contact with the rope. "Innings turning catch" gushes Ramiz Raja on air. Couldn't agree more.

Roston Chase c Riaz b Yasir Shah 63(151) [4s-7 6s-1]

Now we'll see, and replays show pretty clearly it was thigh pad, so Richard Illingworth's not-out decision stands

With Bravo & Samuels on sabbatical they should have played Blackwood on his home turf. May not have changed the situation but to drop your middle-order meant disaster was never going to be far away.

Those are the true Windies cricket fans. You can see it from their furrowed brows that they have seen great cricketers over the year and this bunch doesn't measure up to scratch.

Amir has bowled the one that comes back in on a number of occasions. Why cant we concentrate on every delivery and not get complacent after a good shot?

solidrock 2017-04-25 11:17:39

If Bishoo keeps working on his batting intensity he may well become a better batsman than bowler.

Discourse 2017-04-25 11:17:48

38.6 Yasir Shah to Bishoo, FOUR, too short, he rocks back, opens the bat face late and smashes this behind point. West Indies are into the lead.

The dismissals of the top 5 batsmen left a lot to be desired sad

Bat on Bishoo, bat on

After fighting so hard Bishoo you gave your wicket away instead of Pak. earning it.

Khan takes 2 simple slip catches and the commentators say he took "excellent" catches. Wow!

mikesiva 2017-04-25 12:05:21

In reply to WICFan

Bravo was always going to be missed. As a result the selectors should have made an effort to return Samuels and Blackwood. Yes those two are inconsistent and only make big scores occasionally. But it's better than having batsmen who fail consistently.

It's better to have batsmen who average just over 30 than batsmen who average under 30.

Riaz to Holder, out Caught by Sarfraz!! That's a loose shot from the skipper and he pays the price. Fuller ball outside off, well outside off. Holder would have done better to leave that. He did not, chased it with the drive. Did not bother to take the feet in line and edged to the keeper. Nice low catch taken by Sarfraz.

Yes, between a draw or Pak. win. However, Pak. would have all the cards and they could try to chase down any lead WI had.
