Total factry to drop Blackwood

Wally-1 2017-04-21 11:50:12

I have lost interest in WI cricket for many reasons and one of them is the age long disrespect for J'can players. This youngster has played 22 test matches and compiled scores over 50 ten times..That's good raw material to build on in a pathetic player pool like the WI...Dowrich and Blackwood are, in my opinion, the two best young players they have, the former is woefully out of form, yet he plays and Blackwood is dropped before his home crowd...Matter of fact, Chase has been terrible recently, yet he plays...Dowrich, Chase and Blackwood should all be in starting team...

Dem have too many world beaters to include Blackwood!

It's odd that he's always picked and somehow finds his way into the starting XI.

22 Tests and a 31 average is not anything to get worked up about.

I dun with Waste Indies for well over a decade now. Too many better things to enjoy and revel in starting with T&F.
Don't sweat over s...t like others on here man.
I gone again to prepare my garden for veggies, calaloo and collards as the rain has eased here in Philly.

Dropping Blackwood at this time is a big mistake.

I would hazard a guess that the overriding decision came from the coach.

Oilah 2017-04-21 12:47:17

I also would have played Blackwood. I en dropping a test player until he fails enough at test level to justify the drop. Regional form is for people trying to get in the test team.

You are lying... you are on a WI cricket related message board posting about a WI cricket related topic.

Be honest with yourself.

Depends on what is par the the course at the time. When we were kings par was a much higher standard. Today par is much lower and in this time in West Indies cricket blackwood has not been a failure at test level.

who else on the team has an average higher than him?

Certainly it's not the great Bajan Hope (who averages 18 by the way)

I too believe that Blackwood's performance lately has been sub-par, and in some instances woeful...and deserving of a drop.

Hate to say it Wally but he brought it on himself.

Now ....overall selection policy? A completely different discussion! evil confused

Wally...look at his scoreline...51 5 32 108* 7 29 37 2 47 68 16 2 2 4 44

You wouldn't accept this from Devon Smith!

In five of those FC innings he doesn't total 40 runs! Cyaaaaaan defend dhat!

Sorry mih bredda

cry cry

This is test cricket, his test performance is what counts..Devon is a fc bully that twinkles big grin at test level..Not saying Blackwood has a formidable record but it is not bad for the early part of his career.
By the way, Rabalac to the wurl.

You wouldn't understand boss,in former years i would either be at Sabina pk or glued to a live telecast as we speak. These days i don't make plan to watch and i seldomly even sign on to this board..

Yes totally, Blackwood deserved this drop. The dude averages a mediocre 31 in Test cricket after 22 matches and has been in poor form of late. He should't be anywhere near a West Indies team for a while. Brathwaite, Chase, heck, even Dowrich are all averaging more than him currently. If Blackwood is to hold down a place at number 4 or 5 as a "senior" batsman in the team, he should be averaging over 40 (like the great Shiv did throughout his career). The Hopeless Hope actually averages only 16 now, which is pathetic. So he too should be dropped soon if his average continues to plummet. He may look good at times and be hailed as the "best we have", but his stats don't show it. lol

A guy averages 32 after 22 tests...his omission is justified. Yet a batsman who averages half that should be dropped SOON?

Explain please!

Seechy 2017-04-21 18:03:34

In reply to SirGarny

So you would continue to play Hope for many matches even if he continues to average 16 or less??

Scar 2017-04-21 19:00:06

And added if his 18 average continues to drop!! 18 and continues... !!! big grin big grin

Have no interest in watching Test cricket for a long time now.

But still this guy Law is showing that he has no respect for yard.

I wonder how much Samuels' recent victory over his country man Lawson played a role.

No he doesn't deserve a test pick, the way he got out in his last test match was ugly and pathetic..Notice i said that Chase, Dowrich and Blackwood should've all played.Matter of fact, all three didn't perform well in the regionals..Their test performances, however, haven't been bad.

In reply to Doosra Wi selectors have been disrespectful to J'cans ever since i was a kid..Several names jump out at you especially as recent as Robert Samuels.
