He's had a number of innings now lower down the order in his "natural" position and still fails.

Blackwood should be in line for a recall to bat 3 if Hope continues to fail in this series.

Once selected, the debutants should be persisted with throughout the series, makes no sense dropping them after one or two tests.

You gotta persist with these players now that you've earmarked them.

Perhaps it was the wrong decision to drop Blackwood.

But who knows what the situation is in camp?

Maybe he's woefully out of form and both Hetmeyer and Singh simply looked better AND had just come off scoring runs

Maybe he didn't have a good attitude in camp

Maybe he has a niggle and they thought best not to risk him

Maybe he's ill

Lots of maybes.



At the end of the day, the coaches are in the best position to determine who should play. If they get it wrong, they deal with the consequences.

Yuh cyah say Hope isn't a good player. He's scored runs domestically AND for West Indies. And remember....he was thrown in at the deep end by the previous coach to open. A position that is not his usual place in the batting order.

You need to persist with him and Blackwood and Hety and Singh etc etc. The biggest issue is that they don't have a senior player (batsman) to learn from. That's unfortunate.
