To the few supporters of West Indies Cricket some notations for assimilation.

West Indies played in the last 14 years the following Test Series.

We lost 9

India (twice)
New Zealand (twice)
Australia (twice)
South Africa (once)
Sri Lanka (Once)
Pakistan (Once)
Bangladesh won one
England (Drawn)

A report recently tabled the public calling for West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) immediate dissolution.

At a Caricom meeting, Caribbean prime ministers strongly supported the recommendation in October 2015

Prime Minister Keith Rowley recently said, “Caribbean cricket has been hijacked by a small clique of people who are destroying Caribbean cricket and we need to know who owns that asset (Caribbean cricket)”

Let's understand West Indies Cricket a group that has been governed by dominated and controlled by “Queen’s Park” (T&T)
and clubs like Kingston Cricket Club in Jamaica, Pickwick and Wanderers Cricket Clubs in Barbados and the Georgetown Cricket Club in Guyana.

They had the power, influence, and money in national and regional selection process, players from other countries were ignored.

History notes various territories, finally got together and ultimately formed the West Indies Cricket Board of Control. This meeting was in Bridgetown, Barbados, in 1926 and the West Indies Cricket Conference emerged.

The first official meeting on January 22, 1927 was held at the Bridgetown Club in Barbados, delegates from the Windward Islands, T&T, Barbados, and Demerara (British Guiana).Jamaica and the Leeward Islands were unable to attend.

At this meeting, it was decided to form the West Indies Cricket Board of Control (WICBC) which would be composed of a president, a secretary and two delegates each from Barbados, Demerara, Jamaica and T&T and one delegate each from the Leeward Islands and the Windward Islands.”

On November 27, 1998, WICB Inc was incorporated in the British Virgin Islands.It now owned West Indies cricket.
Cricket will now be administered and managed by a group representing the people and countries of the West Indies in which cricket was played.

It was not owned by them and they were accountable to the people of the region.Ironically, West Indies cricket became the private property of the West Indies Cricket Board from November 2, 1998.

This Board has shown it's not accountable to anyone but itself.

The WICB is owned by boards of Barbados, Guyana, Jamaica, Leeward Islands, Windward Islands and T&T. It was done legally and by respectable West Indians who gained control of the game, its players and its profits in the entire region.

Recently WICB was changed to CWI Cricket West Indies.

Typical of a dictatorship WICB do not account or report to anyone and could spend money on and do whatever it desired.

In secret it pays a president an undisclosed salary, even building an office in a past President.s home.
Such funds should be destined for the player's development.

Initially, such lavish spending was exercised with restraint but that seems to have now ceased. Numerous conflicts
of interest over the years have occurred by Board members. The public now refers to it as the ole boys club.
Conflicts of interest do not appear to have any effect on this selected group.They are immune to such notations.
We in charge seems to be the motto.

Shouldn't there be another report urging dissolution of Caricom for allowing West Indies cricket to be owned, not by the people, but a private institution.

In the meantime CLR James "What do they know of cricket who only cricket know” must be having a hard time resting in peace.

Caricom is still important because it promotes Caribbean trade. Wisynco for example is a company that makes a lot of money importing Trinidadian products for sale in Jamaica thanks to Caricom.

The WICB has become an irrelevance and West indies test cricket is only important to those of us who remember the Federation.

Make absolutely no mistake ; the
Regional Governments have been and are a large part of the Problem
regarding Cricket in the Region .

Like many in the Region , some
Prime MInisters in the Region , are
also ,afflicted with a common disease in the Region , aka :

CRABS IN A BARREL MENTALITY .

Rather than have a cohesive approach , some have decided to
strike out on their own . Lost on these people is the fact that They
can only bring the Worst International CRicket Board in the
Region by having a Cohesive ,United Front .

Let me cite a Classic Case to illustrate precisely what I mean .

THE PRIME MINISTER OF ANTIGUA

AND BARBUDA , DECIDED TO

THROW HIS LOT IN WITH THE

WICBC REGARDING THE

OWNERSHIP OF THE CRICKET

GROUND ONCE OWNED BY

STANFORD .

In my opinion , that Cricket Ground
could have been bought by all the Regional Governments , and used
as a Bargaining tool ; to demand
that the WICBC institute Serious
Structural Reforms .

In essence the Prime MInister decided to throw his lot in with those who have systematically
destroyed Cricket in the Region .

HOW THE HELL CAN CRICKET IN

THE REGION IMPROVE WHEN

GOVERNMENTS IN THE REGION

DECIDE TO LOOK AT CRICKET IN

THE REGION THROUGH INSULAR

LENS .

The people in the WICBC are full aware of this fact , so they have
embarked in a " DIVIDE & CONQUER
STRATEGY ".

Obviously this is not helping the
cause to have proper Stewards of
Cricket in the Region . So as things
currently exist , the Government of
Antigua & Barbuda have absolutely
no incentive to join those Governments who want serious
Reforms in the WICBC .

I AM NOT JOKING WHEN I STATE ;

THAT WE ARE OUR OWN WORST

ENEMY .

In essence rather than looking at
the issue of the Dismal Stewardship of the WICBC as a Regional Issue ; the Prime Minister
of Antigua decided to look at this
issue through Insular lens .

I have taken a very careful study of
the WICBC & the Regional Boards .
My assessment is that they are populated by persons full of Ignorance , regarding Organizing
and Operating a Sports Entity .

Worse yet they are devoided of
Scruples . This is precisely why
They are not interested in the following very important necessary
things :

TRANSPARENCY ; RESPONSIBILITY

; GOOD GOVERNANCE ; HONESTY .

Now my statement above , is buttressed by the fact that the
Worst International Cricket Board
in the Commonwealth , aka the
WICBC ; has over the years Commissioned several Reports :

BUT HAS BLUNTLY REFUSED TO

IMPLEMENT THE SALIENT

FEATURES OF THOSE REPORTS

WHICH OBVIOUSLY WOULD

ENSURE GOOD GOVERNANCE .

In essence the People in the WICBC
have perpetrated a Hoax on the
People in the Region , particularly
Cricket Fans .

THE GLORIFIED ICC , AINT

INTERESTED IN ENSURING THAT

ITS MEMBERS EXERCISE GOOD

GOVERNANCE .

The Members of the ICC who rake
in the most money , are more interested in hijacking most of the
ICC Profits , the recent scandal involving :

AUSTRALIA ; ENGLAND & INDIA

WHO COLLUDED TO HIJACK MOST

OF THE ICC PROFITS IS A TYPICAL

EXAMPLE WHERE THE ICC

INTEREST LIES .

IT has never ever entered the minds
of the People in the ICC to foster the gamein other parts of the Commonwealth .

GREED RUNS RAMPANT IN THE

HALLS OF THE ICC . THE EXCESSES

& GROSS STUPIDITY &

MALADMINISTRATION OF THE

WICBC DOES NOT MATTER TO THE

ICC . THOSE AT THE TOP ARE ONLY

INTERESTED IN GRABBING MONEY

& SELF PRESERVATION .

As I have stated often in this Forum

FIND OUT WHICH COUNTRY HAD

THE FASTEST BOWLERS IN THE

WORLD WHEN IT WAS DECIDED TO

INSTITUTE THE ONE BOUNCER

PER OVER RULE IN

INTERNATIONAL CRICKET .
