Lara 11 vs Tendulkar 11 in May,who goin!!!??
In reply to bravos
As much as TenD is my bwoy....what is the real purpose of naming a stand after him in T&T..
Providence was built with Indian gov't loan....but there they are not even naming stands after Guyanese or WI cricketers
.....this stadium real blight yes...now its completed ...more bachanal?
T&T cricket should be grateful for India for life..Without IPL and CHampions League T and T would be nobody in world cricket..Brian Lara recognizes it!
In reply to Khaga Hmmmm....
In reply to bravos BCL! WI gun let bishoo pon tendy rass!!
Brian Lara played ICL....as a result IPL banned him...couldn't even go as consultant
In reply to BeatDball
hahahaha
one of he lollipops will be a bouncer to Tendy.
Lara and TenD became instant buddies when they played a match in Toronto at the skydome around 1990
In reply to Narper
nah man, is Brian stadium and he want to show respect to he buddy Tendy - nothing wrong with that; good all around
In reply to Curtis
Curt....it is them politicians' stadium...BCL should mark dat dong and remember dat...always
In reply to Narper
BCL is PNM and the PNM built it
Same feathers like problemgay.
In reply to Narper
They respect and admire each other big time..this was a personal gesture by Lara.
In reply to BeatDball
Ah cyar wait!
In reply to Khaga
Umm no,Lara and Tendy are bigger than that, this is personal..Lara never benefited from any IPL..and T&T was already leading the way in 20/20 before IPL,so much so they qualified for the Champions league more than once and contributed to many international victories,so which really came first?
Tendulkar played 2 test matches at QPO...in 1997 and 2002....he played his LAST test match in 2013....and he played 200 test matches
He played 3 ODIs at QPO ....last one at QPO in 2002...his last ODI was in 2012 and he played 463 ODIs
In reply to bravos
In dung heap? Explain how T&T was leading the way in 20/20.. You titties are a bunch of spin masters.
In reply to gvenkat
Boss man it is T&T's regional 20/20 prowess and individual WI performances that created the demand for T&T and WI players,IPL couldnt ignore them..for smart fellas allyuh does surprise me yinno, yuh is a smart fella or a fart smeller? IPL or whatever L T&T and WI players paved their own ways from dung heap to international and naturally were in demand..
You guys seem to forget that big ticket 20/20 tournaments started from the Caribbean dungheap..
In reply to bravos
IPL could have never been successful without Pollard, Bravo, Simmonds, Badree and Narine..and then throw in Gayle, Russell and Smith

Learn Apu about T20 a guy named Stanford started it in the Caribbean.
Oh how dem fergats quickly .
In reply to sgtdjones
School the idiots in this Forum.
Stanford was also the first person in the Region who televised his Tournament playing Cricket under floodlights .
I am not in anyway condoning Stanford's Ponzi Scheme . He is an American with limited knowledge
regarding Cricket .
He however had the wisdom to seek out former Great Cricketers in the Region to run his Tournament .
IT MUST BE REMEMBERED THAT
THE WICBC DID NOT INITALLY
WANT TO HAVE ANYTHING TO
DO WITH 20/20 CRICKET .
That is precisely why the WICBC
farmed that format of the game out to Stanford . Interestingly , this is
the only format of the game that has bought Honour & Glory to the
Region in recent times .
THE FACT IS THAT OUR PLAYERS
DOMINANCE IN 20/20 CRICKET
HAD & HAS ABSOLUTELY
NOTHING TO DO WITH THE WICBC.
The WICBC loves however basking in the Glow of Our PLayers dominance in this Format of the
Game , never mind the fact that IT
had nothing to do with the success
of Our Players in this format of the Game .
In reply to sgtdjones
The backroom is so much saner and more realistic, only Ayenomal and co keep living in their heaven fantasy over there... Gvenky keep dreaming of Bombay nights and lights...
In reply to Narper

In reply to gvenkat
Correct is right..BRavos and Gangas were frothing at the mouth for an opportunity to get a play in the Champions league..Lara knows the real curry..
In reply to bravos
Apparently its the restrooms that will be named for Tendulkar.
folks are so used to seeing Indians crapping on the streets that with naming the toilets after an Indian, one would automatically know where to go to take a crap.
- unlike India where they shite right there in the stands
Think there could ever be one for Lara at any stadium in India?
Doubt it! The Indians know what national pride means. What next? A statue out front.
Maybe they dont have enough greats to name stands after I guess!

Sorry to disappoint you
WE have a Trini who does the most amazing adaptation of Apu speaking that we all fall
over laughing.
It's where I got the idea. So your bust is for nought.
I have been called so many names on this forum it's uncanny.
As a trini male we are known to picong in fun. We don't mean anything personal.
As great a player and as my cricketing idol, Lara is no saint. This decision by him to name a stand after Tendulkar is foolish and inconsiderate. What has Tendulkar done in the interest of Trinidad/Westindies cricket? I haven't seen any of the stands throughout India named after Lara. This is NOT Lara or those in charge monies that built this stadium but the citizens of T&T. Lara you just lost some points as far as I am concern.
In reply to googley
Indians have long looked to TnT for affirmation.
This development will be celebrated by all of India as Tendulkar's greatest achievement! And rightly so!
In reply to azadtnt
Lara say that if it was at least Massey points then maybe he an all woulda bin concerned.
In reply to VIX
You know de ting good..
In reply to bravos
If Lara can't do as he well pleases with his stadium then haul allyuh tail
No Lara; no blasted cricket!
Wait till dem find out that Tendy go require some funds for use of his name. I wonder how that will sit.
In reply to carl0002
Lara will get a coaching job in India!
Davis: Why Sachin?
Former West Indies player Bryan Davis thinks there are many Trinidad and Tobago candidates who are deserving of a stand in their honour at the Tarouba Stadium rather than legendary Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar.
I personally feel that was the way to go, Davis said, They must come up with T&T players over the years that have done wonderful things like Sonny Ramadhin and these people. There are a lot of people that I could have gone through and named stands after.
How could you just suddenly come up with Sachin Tendulkar?. He hasn't done anything for Trinidad. I didn't like the idea.
I have nothing against Sachin. He is a nice fella and so on but I am a Trinidadian in meh heart.
He gave the example of the historic Queen's Park Oval, a private entity, where a number of the stands and areas have been named after Trinbagonian cricketers, including Sir Learie Constantine Stand, Jeffery Stollmeyer, Gerry Gomez, Brian Lara, Willie Rodriguez end, Joey Carew.

Well I hate to agree WITH Bassrath, but in this instance he is correct.
Look, there are political reasons why Sachin's name gets a stadium in Trinidad (Chinidad)and quite frankly I am shocked at the stupidity of the Sports Minister- it is beyond comprehension.
So what if there isnt any stands in India named after Mr. Lara. Always leave room for change. Nothing is fixed. Life is all about change. Forging relationships through appreciation and recognition is maturity. Brian Lara represents the WI, so he represents us. Think of the impact it would have in the world of cricket after the opening on May 13th 2017. History would be made people.
Discussion goes on in social media
In reply to Narper
"Appreciation is a wonderful thing. It makes what is best in others belong to us as well"
When we call the Queen's Park savannah something like Ellis Clarke Roundabout, then let Basharat and Davis give me a call
Surely there are a few stands in QPO that need naming along with stands at Manny Ramjohn and Ato Boldon stadia
Trinidadian for you
Always trying to spend other people money and dictate other people agendas
