No one in West Indies coaching knew Narine had batting potential?

Has been known in TT

Haven't we all seen him...he is HIT or MISS
Kohli could afford many misses in IPL
In reply to Jabari18
So it took his IPL Team to move him up the order?
In reply to Narper
T20 is hit or miss.
Some, hit more than others.
In reply to black
Narine opened in the Big Bash.

But a WI team can't afford more misses...recently we are more miss than hit

Tell de newbie back room Black
In reply to Narper
But he bats at 9 or 10 so moving him up and him going early for single digits is no loss for WI.
And he doesn't waste time, so if he is gonna score runs he is gonna get it ultra quickly and if he is gonna out he is gonna out without soaking up alot of dot balls.
Plus way back when in his debut series, Ganga sent him in at #3 in the Caribbean T20 final
In reply to TanteMerle and Narper
You're still making my point.
In reply to Andy99
Exactly.

BO....Big bash team moved him up first
He batted early in one T 20 against Pakistan and some folks were questioning why capn sent him ahead of capn
In reply to Andy99
Didn't WI recently promote him to #4 or #5 and it failed
In reply to Narper
But, it was not West Indies.
In reply to Narper
IDK, did they?
How many innings 3, 5 10?
In reply to Andy99
Naah....one time I can remember
WI have enough cowlashers to promote Philip in T20I
We have seen over and over that T20I is a much higher standard than IPL
I believe Narine opened for Trinidad and Tobago in the Caribbean T20 for 1 match years ago... before the CPL. I think the match was @ Kensington Oval... I'm looking for the scorecard. The last Caribbean T20 tournament was in 2013, so Narine was recognised as an opener in a major T20 tournament long time now.
In reply to Narper
I just checked the highest he has bat is #6 twice and he has a 28 off 16 and a 1 off 5.
So that a good success rate in T20 although thats still low in the order.
KKR have many cowlashers too, Uthapa one of the most successful openers in IPL has been kept down because of Narine. They have lashers down to #9, all better records than Narine I believe

Andy
I played against Narine and Cooper in a windball tourney about
10 years ago.
They both opened the innings and gave us a good beating.
Dem two lashed us all over Chapman park.
Narine is a pure hitter and can bat.
In the IPL his purpose is simple lash dat ball before five overs are completed.
He is not out there to play Lara's innings.
Fellow posters here don't understand the motive of promoting up the order.
In reply to sgtdjones
Correct, last year in the windball competition he hit 6 sixes in an over.
