That's not the first time this has happened. India vs WI at Sabina Park in 2006 turned even more than this one.

You acting like the people preparing the pitch have a forking clue what they doing

You get the impression anybody remotely involved with WI cricket have any clue?

If the pitch was turning on day one I could understand your argument but this is day four the pitch should turn. There was movement on day one, day two was good for batting. We are just a horrible test side

Exactly. Thanks for stating the obvious for those here who have no sense.

The WACA . It remains an even bounce. SPINNERS DO NOT GET PICKED
So any smart administrator will know this. Prepare your pitches to suit your squad.
India have done it against South Africa and Australia so why not us?
Jamaica and Barbados were the only 2 pitches in the Caribbean that we knew would give our fast men a chance.
So is the WICB playing into the hands of the powers that be and allowing our team to be entrenched at the bottom of all formats?

Apparently West Indies has a super pitch curator from St Lucia. If he was involved in preparing this pitch, it would have been a proper test pitch offering something to both batsmen and bowlers all the way from day 1 through day 5

Something isn't right here. WI selected Bishoo and Chase for their spinners and they got two (2) wickets between them. WI pacers got seven (7) wickets... Given those stats what you want the curators to do?
Prepare a road? U gon cuss the WI bowlers if they cyant get anything from the road?

buds 2017-04-24 22:15:11

In reply to Chrissy

Better question is : Why our batsmen cannot bat soon.
How many wickets Bishoo got?
Stupid question to ask why we prepare a Spinners wicket.

Buds, Sabina and Kensington had unique features. Opposing sides used to fear coming there because of the bounce. The pitch never deteriorated to a point where the opposing spinners would dominate on the fourth or fifth day.

we have lost our identity, we prepare wickets that favour the opposing teams. 8 out of the top ten wicket takers are spinners at our regionals because of the nature of or pitches. The irony is that these pitches are not making our spinners better. In reality they are hindering the development of fast bowlers. Our spinners are mediocre. So we prepare pitches for our mediocre spinners and the top quality spinners of the opposing teams. so what do you expect?

Our batsmen will capitulate against top quality bowling because they dont face top quality bowling at regionals be it spin or fast bowling

Wi cannot pace. True.

Pakistan also does not play pace well.

Whereas WI cannot play spin and do not have a good spinner. So it is better to have pitches oriented towards pace.

WI has been losing on any and all types of wickets! So I do not subscribe to the notion why we prepare a Spinners wicket?
On any wicket WI lose.

You can't face reality. This doesn't just start at test level. Our problems start at the first class level with the type of pitches we play on hindering the development of fast bowlers and natural stroke makers. Look at that, West Indian batsmen cannot even hook pull and cut anymore. We are like a Brazilian football team without any flair.

timeless99 2017-04-25 12:44:02

The pitch offered lots of turn but it was not a pitch where a team should get skittled out for 150 it's a better pitch than that Wi batsman made the leg spinner look unplayable when he was not

Dis ..is de realest ting

Pitches forking up everything..fast bowlers no longer no how to bowl..batsmen suffering cos they dont get fast bowling to face.

Exposed at Test level against pace..and the pitches are so rubbish..and our batsmen so poor..spinners can bowl anything and take a bunch of wickets regionally..and fail at the next level.

Shilly flinging was the only spinner to take bunches of international wickets regularly

Chase is not selected for his bowling. He is a batsman who can turn over his arm.He is used to give the pacers a rest, and to help to pick up the over rate.

But for a 'batsman who can turn over his arm', didn't he take 5/121, V India at Sabina?

Versus 5 for 65? When one bowler who is the wicket taker has 120 runs scored off him what do you think the non wicket takers went for? 20?

Scar 2017-04-26 21:29:46

WI batsmen all make less than regulation spinners look like bat killers. Look at the bowlers who taking FC wickets some can barely turn a ball.
