Two Changes for NEXT TEST, PLEASE
Note.
I would not discard Vishaul Singh from the squad, but I feel, that between Hety and Vishaul, only one can play... the batting is just too inexperienced.
In my opinion three players effectively failed the WI in this test match
Kraigg...no dogged solid as a rock innings at all as expected
Hope...no match winning innings at the match winning position no 3 at all.
Bishoo...failed to penetrate and hence cut down on that 100+ lead.
newbies like Hetmyer and Singh don't count.
In reply to analyst-kid
Strongly agree, except Hetmyer and Singh probably should not both play at the same time.
This line up is too green.
West Indies and Bravo should iron out their differences, because the cupboard is not only bare, but inexperienced.
In reply to thefacts
Why is Marlon Samuels not there?
In reply to analyst-kid
Hope was at 4, other than that..decent analysis.
But two newbies is too much.
I would love to see Cornwall at 8..and Blackwood in the team.
Both Newbies shouldnt play, let Hety and Singh pick straws.
I'd shuffle thefacts top 6

Marlon has not hit a 100 since April 2015. - Two Years
Since that 100, he has played 14 Tests, 3X50s..
At 36 years of age, IMO, its better Samuels sticks to T20 and ODIs, he just doesn't have the game for Test Cricket.
I am not saying others have a Test cricket game, but seriously Marlon has had a decent run. No complaints.
In reply to DIEHARD
But two newbies is too much.
so why add Cornwall?
he is a newbie with bat and ball!
This test match is classic of this current West Indies team.
Everyone who scored in the first innings, has failed in the second innings.
This Test Match is DONE.
In reply to googley
Let me qualify two newbies batting in the top 6, since we having issues putting up 300 runs
In reply to embsallie

That was a bad idea. At least, I would have played one and bring in another bowler.
The selectors does not have a choice for the next test - they have to bring in another fast or spin bowler otherwise they will get beat again.
Everyone has an opinion as to what is best for WI cricket. We chop, we change. We are our own worst enemy. Impatient. Discontented. Disappointed. No thought in the process.
Change for the sake of change is not good enough. Let this same team play the next game...they have batted against the Pakistanis bowlers...they may have learned a thing or two...give them a change to right the wrongs...don't just change them after one game.
It is not like you have someone breaking down the door to get in.
Let the team be...we talk about development in a vacuous sense, without giving development a chance to materialize.
Hetmyer got a good ball off Yasir...and Singh he got a peach from Amir. The first innings he was out to a good shot.
Leave them alone...they will come good.
can I have eleven changes please
That's right, chop and change, chop and change.
you can't play a guy for one game and then change him?
Blackwood needs to play ahead of Hetmyer or Hope.
for the next game I would change the selectors.
de president's 11 nearly lick up pakistan.
bring them all for the next test
Our only hope is that these guys learn and get better, however I don't see it though the talent to compete with the best is simply not there.

lol
who to put??
who will make a difference??
If you really have to change...then I say Bishoo goes. he has been around a long time and his bowling really hasn't blossomed.
Same team.
Hope and maybe Bishoo on notice, if they dont perform next match then they getting a drop for the 3rd.
Give Het and Singh the whole series.
In reply to thefacts
u still want them to play more tests?
In reply to Andy99
I don't think there is evidence that Sing will ever be good, but he should play at least another game.
In reply to Andy99
Agree...give them anodda test to gel and if they perform de same way...mek de changes....by the looks of thing in dis team...Bishoo can play as a batsman!
bring on big bat Carter
I have nothing against Vishaul or Hety
But the side is really inexperienced
Atleast let's get one batsmen in the middle with some experience...
If you want to play the same XI, then maybe Move Powell to No.3, Chase to No.4, Hope to No.6, and Hety can open

In reply to camos
Singh was among the leading run scorers a few seasons ago, went on to score 160 odd runs not out, on the last A team tour.
Ok, so no change then.
After this embarrassment we go into the 2nd test unchanged. The 3rd even.
When we make a decision we stick to it (the manly way).
In reply to Andy99
I see it as a gamble playing both youths, and it didn't really pay off, but the thing is those two youths might very well be the best two to really keep cause they young and will know to learn fast and try to work on their game more. Agree with wha tyou say about Hope and Bishoo, a lot was expected from both of these two. Bishoo especially seeing how he played against the same opponents back in UAE a few months ago. And Hope for raising his game.
I think we have always been quick to chop and change and that have basically killed off the team spirit and many young players. The advantage in this whole thing is we expected to get beaten badly, so the only move to make is a upward move. As much as I'd like to see like Cornwall play, perhaps leave him out and make him get even hungrier for his time to play. Then let everyone know they are on probation. I think this is a fairly young team and needs time to grow. The team management really made a gamble. At least two positives is Gabriel and Joseph's performance they seemed like they got better as the match went on and actually learning their craft. There will be growing pains, which if you look at this team it's like a small business growing pains and difficulties will come but it's how one endures such will determine where one ends up.
Buy out Shiv's Lancashire contract and BRING HIM HOME TO PLAY
In reply to Narper
Plus pay Lil Bravo $120k and get him to play too
+ Jerome and Rampaul return
In reply to Narper
You don't like white fowls???? You know what will happen if that happens...
In reply to thefacts
Jerome and Rampaul return to do what exactly?
Joseph and Gabriel failing?
The only other decent batsman who's not in the squad is Bravo... we all know they won't pick Shiv...
The two changes that should made for the next match is Blackwood for Hope and Jacobs for Bishoo...
In reply to anthonyp
Bishoo why?
In reply to doosra
He has been competing too long, not to have variety.
We've been writing about this for some time, both Pakistan leggies, make Bihoo look like a schoolboy.
In reply to anthonyp
I was just adding to the spirit of Narper's point
Reality is none of it will happen
In reply to doosra
I like Bishoo but like his head hard... bowl one one googly or suh nuh... need to sit and reflect maybe the drop will knock some sense in him
Seeing that the allrounders are putting up more fight than the specialists...I am keen to bring in a Reifer or Cornwall for Singh. Reifer in particular would have contributed in this match MORE than Kraigg,Hope or Singh with bat and ball.
If Roach is near to his form I would love to see him in this team....but where to put him
In reply to DIEHARD
if you are going to drop players because the team needs experience then why not bring in the experienced ICON that is Samuels who can bat and bowl!
In reply to analyst-kid
Have you learn anything over the years, about regional performances?
Reifer, Mayers and another of our bits and pieces players, should be dominant in a skill, none of them are up to International standards at this time.
In reply to runout I totally agree with you, every time West Indies loose, these so called expert come out of the wood work. With drop this one and bring in this one. As if it will work. The opening did nothing to help the two youngsters come in. If the Aussies had drop Steve Waugh when he did not score a hundred for how many innings he would not be a great player. Or Shane Warne when he went to India, and got hammered. We had Blackwood,in on out the team. Score forty and looses concentration all the time.

What youth are you talking about??
Singh 28 years old
Hetmeyer 20 years old
Hope 23 years old
Dowrich 24 years old
Kraigg 24 years old
Chase 25 years old
Blackwood 25 years old
Cut off the head of the weeds and they grow back in less ghan no time. If you cannot get to the root of the problem then it reemerges.
In reply to TheTrail
You do realize that the Australian "youths" debut much later, right?
This obsession with age, and not performance is silly. YOu have 18 year old world beaters, and you also have the Husseys of the world.

Well said

Is this team built around Hope? Because all we keep hearing is that his sub-20 average is based on the fact that he's been "all over" the batting order.
Can someone from Barbados please let us know what is Hope's "natural" position?
In reply to TheTrail
Maybe i should of use debutantes and not youths. but I'm sure you knew what i meant, then you gone and bring up their ages. So wouldn't you refer to a team of mid two year olds to be youths?
Play the same squad, chopping and changing has not helped in the past.
In reply to Runs
Bro they say if you are lost and don't know which direction to go. Then stop.
Wi selectors should rein in the impulse to chop and change. Think why they selected this team in the first place and have patience in their selections
In reply to Runs
Talk about chopping and changing. Name the opening partners Chris Gayle has had in his test career...

Let's take a look at the test and FC stats of the first six batsmen then the WK and the all-rounder .
KB 35 tests Avg 35.54 105 FC matches Avg 42.57
KP 22 tests Avg 28.14 83 FC matches Avg 33.71
S Het 1 test Avg 15.50 19 FC matches Avg 34.26
S Hope 8 tests Avg 15.40 33 FC matches Avg 38.92
Singh 1 test Avg 9.00 44 FC matches Avg 34.73
Chase 8 tests Avg 33.66 47 FC matches Avg 40.14
Dowrich 9 tests Avg 33.21 66 FC matches Avg 34.61
Holder 21 tests Avg 30.06 46 FC matches Avg 22.88
These stats are appalling for first class matches in any universe and we wonder why these guys do not perform better at the higher level.
This is where the WICB needs to focus their attention and use that as a basis for selection. To make the higher level you must improve
should be the message sent to these players.
If a 40 average is the threshold for selection into the test team, only Kraigg and Chase would make it - just barely. That fact is not lost on a better average in tests when compared to their team mates.
Holder seems to be the only one taking batting at test level more seriously than FC level. His stats indicate that he puts a little more effort in that department.
In reply to embsallie
In my view, it was a mistake to include Singh, based on one good score against the tourists. In a total of 75 FC innings, in only 15 has he scored above 50. That is 20%. In no universe is this cthe consistency one expects of a test player.
Have a fella name Commie on this site who says FC stats do not matter
There are scope of changes needed and a couple of adjustment
Changes:
Out - Hope, Bishoo
In - Blackwood, Jacobs
Adjustment - Holder as a batsman/bowler we need another strike bowler (Cummings, Reifer, Cornwall)
Concerning - KB is playing away from his body due to poor foot work. Also playing two inexperienced batsmen next to each other was foolish when the more experienced were sitting in the pavilion watching and waiting.
My team for 2nd test:
KP, KB, Blackwood, Chase, Singh, Holder, Dowrich, Cornwall, Jacobs, Joseph, Gabriel, Hetmyer, Cummings
In reply to Cameron
Based on your facts there would be no batsmen in the team.

Why Heymyer and not just Hope?
