Same team for second test?
In reply to cricketmygame
What? We have now developed an appetite for losing? Obviously there were plenty of batting problems, one cannot expect a different result after using the same tactics!

Hard ? The same Blackwood debuted with 63 in winning a Test match. Then was dropped next match.
My advice to this young man is to develop his game and seek IPL etc etc and leave this Waste Indies shite in short order. Could even try for Kolpak.
BTW there is no way Hope is dropped in BIM for the next Test.
He shouldn't either because he has class and will come good sooner than later.

develop appetite for losing? Where have you been the last upteen years?
In reply to hubert
It's already later but we still yet to see at least one 50+ from him. Sarwan, Nash and Chanderpaul were are dropped after making centuries for WI but you want to keep Hope without even one 50+. With every test match WI falling further into mediocrity!

Hope
Singh
Bring in Blackwood and a bowler like Cummins for those two.
This should be the team for the second test:
1. Kraigg
2. Powell
3. Blackwood
4. Hetmeyer
5. Chase
6. Dowrich
7. Holder
8. Narine
9. Joseph
10.Cummins
11.Gabriel

How do establush class? For some one who has done nothing to date? I was a supporter of Hope after seeing him the first time around but my hope for him has faded. Dont think WI had a batsman expected to be tops who didnt give a 50 in the number of matches for Hope. Not Baboo, Kali, Viv, Rowe, Sars, Shillingford, Butcher, Headley, Lara, etc etc. Those guys were class. Class is not being pretty, pretty. Its putting up runs.

From what I observed he has the tools to be a good Test player. I waited Seven Tests to see Rohan Kanhai get his first Test 50.His 1st hundred took another 6 matches and was a double.Like Hope he batted out of plasce and kept wicket too on his debut and as opener in some of those first seven games. But his class was evident.
Some players do not strike hot at the start of their Test careers. That's life. Some do like Collie Smith with a ton on debut and a pair next match and was dropped.Everton Weekes wa behind the two Ws too but Headley saw the class and after being dropped after three Tests, was recalled on the dictate of the appointed captain Headley who was so named for the final Test at Bina, but was injured. When asked who should replace him, Headley said' Send for Weekes'.His countryman Holt had just done well for the JA team against the MCC in the colony match and was being touted to be the man. Weekes it was; he arrived after the game started, made a ton and that was that.
But the reason for keeping Hope who I will not compare with Kanhai or Weekes is that there are very few of his contemporaries with his potential or ability to bat.It is not about him being pretty. He just has better tools and technique than his peers.Plus he is young and should be given a run and dropping him at he Mecca would be callous. He needs the support of his own to encourage him and root for him much as the old gray haired Jamaican supporters did for Chase in the 1st Test.
That will help his temperament and confidence for sure.
I sense frustration by you Two guys and it is the same for every supporter of Waste Indies but while it was boneheaded to drop Blackwood who also had a better Test average than Powell for the same amount of Tests,it would be foolhardy to drop Hope at home too.Give him the three tests to fail.
In my long association with WI cricket I have seen too many stupid decisions by all sectors of the cricket community.
I could give many excamples of players with class who started badly and had stellar careers...Good(pair on debut) and Graveney whom the Aussies did not rate much..
West Indies cricket standard is at very low ebb, hence when one with good promise surfaces,he needs to be given a more than fair run to develop because it is unlikely if others less talented will even surface to outdo that one.
My Eleven for the Mecca Test would be Brathwaite,Powell,Chase,Hope,Hetmeyer,Dowrich,Holder,Bishoo,Roach,Joseph and Gabriel. But I know that won't happen.
I gone and walk( post) good.

In reply to hubert... well my Yaadie bias showing I have Tayrol rather than Roach. But I want 5 bowlers. That's my take. We not making much runs 6 batters and a wicket-keeper ... feel we going get the same from 5 and a keeps, with 5 bowlers however, we may not be chasing that much as we are use to.

I'd play da same team... too early to discard the youngers.
