I like the look of that line up. Maybe one change Jacobs for Bishoo.

natty_forever 2017-04-28 09:02:12

In reply to Raggs... I opened the floor for a debate on the actual bowlers to be selected.

I keep Bishoo for his batting ... you did mention the batting weak nuh raas!

big grin

That looks like my XI too.

But seeing that the selectors have already blooded the debutants..they have kinda forced themselves to stick with at least one of them for the remainder of the series.

They seldom admit their mistakes, and dropping them now would allude to the fact that a mistake was made in selecting them.

In reply to DIEHARD... yep!

and to be honest if Holder wants to be a long term skipper he needs to bat as high as possible to set standards and bowls within himself to keep things tight and take wickets when needed ala Kallis

Holder not good enough to bat at 5.

Holder not good enough to bat at 5.

he looks so to me. V.Singh batted there in the first test match and Holder looked more composed than him @ #8

Holder not good enough to bat at 5.

On that team, who is?
With the current makeup of this team Holder could bat in any of the positions from 2 to 7.

Spot on, if he must be captain..and he must play, then he cant be at 8-11, we need our best bowlers there..whoever they may be.

I really dont know who they are.

We need proper pitches, then in time i think the really good bowlers will show themselves..hard to tell now

natty_forever 2017-04-28 12:01:09

In reply to DIEHARD... no it's not that hard, especially as a selector you go and watch the matches to support the statistics in front of you.

analyst-kid 2017-04-28 12:02:04

I am not playing no two frontline spinners at Kensington....you are not playing the Windwards,Leewards or Jamaica.

This is against a test team. Two frontline spinners at Kensington is a no no....you could try that at QPO.

Unleash three pacers in Gabriel,Joseph, Cummins or Roach and let Holder be the fourth pacer.

I just think regional fast bowlers especially do not get enough in match practise.

They get an opening burst then its relentless spin until its time for the new ball..if the innings lasts that long.

I think if they got more cricket..some more talent might show itself, guys would also raise the standard of their play.. thats the theory, the more you do something, the better you become at it

natty_forever 2017-04-28 12:05:09

In reply to analyst-kid... Well that depends on the pacer. Any will not cut it ... I bet an additional spinner would go a long way. Too stuck in the paas.

analyst-kid 2017-04-28 12:05:30

The Bajan pacers know how to bowl at Kensington....Roland Butcher himself said that. One of Cummins or Roach should be playing.

natty_forever 2017-04-28 12:06:34

In reply to DIEHARD... until then ... I going with my best bowlers and if that means 2 spinners then so be it ... Jacobs and Cornwall can win matches with their bowling? if so, play them.

Two frontline spinners at Kensington ...a pitch that doesn't help them much against Pakistan?

No way.

natty_forever 2017-04-28 12:07:28

In reply to analyst-kid... you sure about that (pitch not helping)?

Well I would love to try it.

No argument there .other than..the counter argument is..we cant really tell who our best bowlers are due to our batsmens poor technique against spin, and is that poor technique exaggerated by the state of the pitches which makes the spinners seem more unplayable than they are?

We've seen it before..our spinners run through all the regional line ups..and cant get a single wicket at Test level
