Not including Lil Bravo, or the IPL folks etc...
But I strongly believe this is the TOP-7 that should be playing the next TEST.
DROP - KB, Hope and Vishaul.
Powell
Hetmyer (chance as opener)
J Mo
Chase (No.4)
Blackwood
Jason (No.6)
Dowrich (wk)

Best Possible Top-7 for NEXT TEST
essentially J MO and Blackwood should be in the middle, along with Chase, Jason and Dowrich.
Dropping Hope and Vishaul is a No brainer.
And Dropping KB would be sending a clear message to him, that he needs to work on his game.
Right now KB's head is falling all over the place.
Just freeze the frame when he is playing Aamir, his head is way over to the OFF and the ball is well inside his head line.
On a different topic,we shouldn't lose this test.We don't usually occupy the crease for a day,and we can go on for another 2 hours at least.Another 100 runs and we could be in the driving seat looking for a win.Well done to Chase,we couldn't have had a better innings, brilliant.
K. Brathwaite
K. Powell
J. Blackwood
R. Chase
V. Singh
S. Dowrich
J. Holder
In reply to thefacts
Chase is doing well as a batting all-rounder coming in around five or six. What we need are some good specialist batsmen at the top of the order.
KB
Powell
JoMo
Chase
Blackwood
Dowrich
Holder
Roach
Bishoo
Joseph
Gabriel
Roach and Bishoo's batting in the low order might just be more important.

That's my XI

Bowler added and Paki's bowlers have to continue
to stress out over the tail. More important now
than having early bat being scarified to the seam
bowling.

Good team. Why is it so obvious to fans and not the Selectors?
In reply to buds
Well as one poster pointed out to me that I had never considered before..they have considerably more information to work with.
We dont know what the players are looking like in the nets, or how "coachable" they are, how they fit into the set up/ psychology of the team.
I take that with a grain of salt though..but ..it is something to consider.
My response to that criticism will and always be...based on the info we have...those certainly seem to be the OBVIOUS changes to make
In reply to DIEHARD
True..On any standard to select two Debutants and play them ahead of an experienced player to me is ludicrous. However, I am sure they will reassess for the final test. Why was JMo not selected?
In reply to buds
The other constant so far is..they do no reassessment during the series.
All changes are done after
In reply to buds
What is more ludicrous is to continue playing the 30 average experienced player without looking for options...
In reply to Kay
JMo and Ambris and Devon Smith, should PROBABLY have been considered before the greenhorn Hetmyer.
I cant knock it too much..I see what they were trying to do..cos I guess if any youngster should have been thrown into the deep end..he was the one..BUT...not in such an inexperienced line up
Singh probably deserved his call up, but you do realise that at FC level..he's only marginally better than Blackwood.
Blackwood was definitely on thin ice..but his dumping was premature...he deserved at least the first test..in hindsight..he could have done no worse than his replacement (s)
In reply to Kay
Equally ludicrous is to continue with a man averaging less than 17
In reply to DIEHARD
I would not go back to a proven failure in Devon Smith..NTM, he cannot play spin and he would be a walking wicket in this series.
In reply to buds
I don't think there is "Unanimity" on any topic amongst Fans , let alone what is our Best XI or Batting Order.
On the Other Hand The Selectors, often, are handicapped by other considerations such as "Regional", "Give Youth a Go", "A Particular Selection Policy" etc etc
My approach always has been to pick players on MERIT.
STEP.1
There is absolutely no DOUBT in my mind, that KB, Hetmyer, Hope and Vishaul are struggling.
That's 4 out of 7 batsmen. Only Powell, Chase and Dowrich have looked the part and Jason (batting at 8 ) has been excellent with the bat.
STEP.2
Now the next FACT is that J Mo was excellent in the chances provided to him earlier in the games vs Pakistan.
+ Blackwood is in the squad, so he is a natural replacement for one of the 4 struggling batsmen,
So putting in J Mo and Blackwood in the batting order.
Powell
X
J Mo
Blackwood
Chase
X
Dowrich
Jason
STEP.3
Now, the bowling desperately needs a push. and an additional bowler can play with Jason bats one slot higher.
So that leaves the batting order
Powell
X
J Mo
Blackwood
Chase
Dowrich
Jason
STEP.4
So its now down to one slot, who will partner Powell as opener?
It can be anyone frankly, but for me, I feel Hetmyer has looked like he has the game, just keeps getting out to loose shots.
(While KB is falling to bad technique)
In reply to buds
Cupboard bare and short on experience...can't be worse than the current walking wickets we have.
He could have opened and had Powell at 3.
And of course the elephant in the selection room..Shiv..who could STILL outbat every muddaskunt in dis XI
In reply to DIEHARD
We are talking about equal opportunity selections man .... not untouchables due to inside connections.
In this current setup there are only about 6 or 7 positions up for grabs, the rest are sealed by surety
In reply to Kay
Oh shite..so now we get to de crux of de matter
In reply to thefacts
Good question!
Maybe he doesn't have the discipline along with "the game". Need both if he's is going to succeed.
Bad technique and all...if his replacement doesn't average more than him, KB should stay...
Every batsman goes through bad patches
In reply to SirGarny
If your #1 batsman is averaging 36 after 35 tests then he has been going through a bad patch his entire career so far..
In reply to SirGarny
Yes everyone does
Any harm in dropping KB for a game? Let him introspect. It's not the end of the road for him, just one game
And I am sure you won't deny the FACT, that KBs head is falling over, with complete lack of balance in his batting right now
In reply to Kay
To be fair to KB, compared to his predecessors:
Smith
Powell
Hope
Johnson
Etc
His average is much better and only second to Gayle, who is the only opener in last 20 years to average more than 40
IMO, forget the average, just watch the game and one can easily tell that KB is struggling and needs to be pulled out for a game.
In reply to thefacts
I know he is the best we have ... was just putting the 'bad patch' analogy into perspective
In reply to Kay
IMO, KB has some technical issues to sort immediately
His Balance is just not right. Top Bowlers will exploit this easily.
Paint ALWAYS looks like he's struggling, even when he's on 90*!!!!!
Ugliest WI bat ever, INCLUDING Courtney Walsh!!!!
In reply to Larr Pullo
But there is a difference between struggling and failing
