Batting averages so far

Baje 2017-05-07 21:13:01

Only 3 batsmen average above 40, Misbah, Chase and Holder. Considering that 6 of the first seven Pakistanis average above 40 in test cricket, they are below par in the series so far.

Misbah not averaging 50 plus? I would have thought so.

He averaging 100+ in this series, 47 overall, Younis averages 52 overall and less than 20 in this series.

Pakistan will be seriously weakened further after this series.

I don't see any player right now, who is ready to fill the void that will be left with Younis and Misbah retiring!

Yeah, if those two had timed their retirement properly, we might have won the series by now.

Been saying this for a long time...and this applies to most test-playing nations.

Windies caught Pakistan on an off day and won the match.

Maybe other countries have players with higher averages because they actually play on decent wickets. Hughes for example is a good county player but a poor PCL player. Some of the wickets this year were atrocious.

I think they'll ask Younis to stay on, considering it's Pakistan, I wouldn't rule out Salman Butt or Mohammed Hafeez returning to the test side.

He needs to play on "old" pitches. Situations like these (the Barbados pitch) is bound to come up. Can you imagine him touring say India? Says he is limited as a player

In reply to WICFan

Yes, also Shoaib Mallik

I won't be surprised if both Mohd Hafeez & Shoaib Mallik make a comeback to the Pakistan team.

Also, this Pakistan team is lacking that 5th bowling option, something that Hafeez was giving them all through....

Maybe its time for Imad Wasim to play test cricket!

(the Barbados pitch)

Touring teams protest West Indies pitches a lot...

The Windies pitch curator should be fired.

If two teams are playing on the same bad wicket and one team bats considerably better than the other, one must conclude that the batsmen's collective application was much better than that of their vanquished opponents'.

Now in fairness, there seems to be a problem with the quality of wickets in the region. I wonder if there is a true batting pitch with even bounce anywhere in the Caribbean. Used to be Sabina Park and Kensington Oval...

Not any more! evil sad

Let's look at the stats a little closer...who are the batsmen averaging over 26, for example?

1) Misbah (Pak) 105
2) Chase (WI) 77
3) Holder (WI) 43
4) Azhar (Pak) 32
5) Powell (WI) 31
6) Shehzad (Pak) 30
7) Sarfraz (Pak) 28
cool Babar (Pak) 27

The elephant in the room is those passengers who are averaging less than 26, and are not mentioned above...Hope, Dowrich, Younis, Kragg, Hetmyer, Singh, Shafiq.

Saint Lucia’s Kent Crafton, the head curator for the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB), had a busy season.
He’s heavily involved in the Caribbean domestic season and the West Indies home series, for all of he’s been working to help prepare the best pitches and grounds possible.

geezer hustle aint wukkin..time fi pink slip

rolleyes

Scar 2017-05-09 20:03:36

Like the NZ say you have to know the soil type to produce a good wicket. More so if that same pitch is being greatly overused. Other countries have nuff cricket parks to avoid overuse I would guess.

Kent is not around when the pitches are being prepared, he goes around the region to speak to groundmen.
Hope you notice I did not called them curators.
