In reply to black
You think alot about alot.
There must be an avenue that you can put this power to good use.
In reply to nick2020
Financing.
I've got lots of ideas.
In reply to black
There are some Tibetan Buddhists monks who will ask that their corpse be left out in the open for the vultures to devour.
That's one way to deal with the problem.
In reply to SnoopDog
I'll probably do the cremation thing.
In reply to black
Did you get one of those brochures offering Burial Insurance? Disconcerting, isn't it?
Reminds me of when I was approaching the big 50 and got my first letter from AARP.
In reply to Drapsey
Why is it disconcerting?
We all have to go.
Don't put my body in no facking hole!
In reply to NineMiles
What does it matter? You'll be dead.
In reply to black
It's still my body!
In reply to SnoopDog
That's a practice of the parsi people as well
In reply to doosra
It doesn't seem very dignified but my thinking is cultural/traditional. To each his own.
In reply to black
some cultures believe if you go to the grave and pray it brings some kind of peace to the soul and thus wish to be buried whee relatives can visit easily
some believe that relatives will remember them if they are buried close
some prefer to be buried with their family members
no straight answer to this

Burn mi corpse and fling the ashes in the Caribbean sea. Mek di snapper fish reverse di eating.
Actually the best otion is leaving yuh body for medical students.
In reply to Chrissy
Don't think you can do that.
In reply to nick2020

In reply to cricketmygame
Yea, some cultures worship their ancestors.
In reply to Chrissy

In reply to nickoutr
Boy yuh wicked
In reply to NineMiles
and if yuh family decides to put you in a hole, what do you plan to do about it?
All I want from whomever is left behind is to make sure I am really dead before they dispose of my body.
In reply to Toney

When ah dead bury meh clothes
Bury meh shirt, meh shoes an meh tie.
In reply to Oilah
That's perfect - Scandinavians are doing this these days
In reply to SnoopDog
U know, it sounds mad but its probably the most logical way of disposing a dead body.....make it useful, feed the vultures, the circle of life continues that way
In reply to conman
That is how they see it as well. The Tibetan Buddhists believe that the body is merely just a vessel for the soul.
Once a person dies, the body is of no value to the soul. It's just another inanimate object. But it can still provide sustenance to other creatures so the circle of life may continue.
As Doosie mentioned, this belief and practice is also held by the Parsi (Persians) who live in India.
In reply to SnoopDog
It's just human nature (western civilization) to be
be grossed out by such practices. It's the same thing with eating dogs, there's no reason why Rover cannot be on the dinner menu, but the thought of it, makes us sick.
In reply to black
do you know in Indonesia they keep the dead relative in his room and pretend he is sick. talk about the deceased as if he is sick and wont come for dinner. They even take food up and leave in room for the corpse.
Eventually they go thru with the burial ceremony with a big feast.
