For centuries turtledoves were thought to be monogamous and their demonstrations of affection were the subject of poetry and love songs. Nowadays DNA testing has shown that the female turtledoves are far from monogamous and the excessive demonstrations of affection may just be a device to wear down hubby's defences to make it easier for "Joe Grine" to enter the kingdom.
Hope I do not cause anyone to spill his/her morning coffee.
I am not a member of any sites as such nor do I visit so I can't give
a comment.Curious about experiences as outlined above though.

Thanks for the inside info about turtledoves
I am single with no attachments so I could be a "Joe Grine"unknowingly.
Human beings are ego driven/ narcissistic creatures
Marriage is a bigger crock of $hit than Valentines Day.

I don't have a Facebook page, I don't want one, and I don't want people in my business.

I started one to push ticket sales for a fete...stealth marketing....posted some stuff over the years....more or less dormant now....
Don't do the amazing family thingy...
In reply to DAVE400
Facebook is a competition to show who have more stuff.

People don't realize that by being so open, it's going to entice big businesses to take more of their privacies.
The same Facebook that they are posting on, is selling their info to other businesses

..and they more interested in taking a picture than relishing the moment...is bullshit from people lacking self-esteem or love

Easily the saddest thing about the facebook generation...they cherish things more in retrospect than the present....selfies more important than experience...
they believe reality has to be repackaged, sanitized or improved upon by photo-shopping and adding a narrative...
They are also the constant seeking of validation bunch...a generation that needs a like every hour of the day.

You got it right.

When I go somewhere interesting, the last thing on my mind is to put my phone in front of my face and miss out on whats happening around me.
It seems to me the facebook generation has reduced a vacation to searching for selfie and picture opportunities.
ALSO, I dont know if you noticed, facebook has a lot of fakes. People are more beautiful, rich, educated on facebook than in real life.

Don't you share your business with the backroom?
In reply to DAVE400
Why is that "wrong"?
In the medieval period we were slaves to the church and we were born to die. When the Renaissance came along we found a new appreciation for the human form.
Taking selfies is not for me. I leave that to the good looking people. But I do not see anything wrong with it.
Folks ... that is the same generation that will be taking care of you and make life easier for you sad old souls as you age so be careful . They are the future doctors, tech experts, innovators and Mars citizens....

The selfie itself isn't wrong...but the obsession with it...the photo supposed to remind you of a good time...not itself be the good time...
In reply to DAVE400
This era with narcissism mixed with low self esteem is perfect for FB and these other virtual powder mirrors
The truth is everyone has a need to be seen as being happy because they really are not in the main.

Do you know who I am?
If having a picture and name was a requirement here, I would not be posting. The Facebook generation want people to know who they are, I am happy being anonymous. That way, I can talk about myself and no one knows, who the fcuk I am.
