DUKESY...Do you still see Viv in Hety ?

Narper 2017-05-14 10:53:59

I don't

In fact not even in Freddo

TWO EFFIN YEARS MORE...more esposure outside dung heap...and bring him in again

ProWI 2017-05-14 11:04:12

There is something about Hetmyer I like. He's the confident type, who is prepared to go after bowlers and destroy them, once he's top of his game.

No doubt there is a chink in the armour, so I am hoping there're people in the Windies setup, who can help him.

He has plenty potential (where have I heard that before regarding young Windies cricketers before?) and I would want the selectors to persist with him for another Test series.

Why? A tour of England might destroy the young man. Pull him out of the Test team, and let him play two more FC seasons, gain some experience, before exposing him to top-class bowling again.

Many of us here said the same

Those of us who have followed Hety have said Hety is too loose....and obviously not ready for test cricket

ProWI 2017-05-14 12:01:33

Can't what you term "loose" be corrected under the auspices of a good cricket eye in the nets?

Is it confidence or stupidity? He must have had superb support when he was the under 19 Captain as he definitely lacks maturity and a brain much less a cricketing brain. Young or not he has been around long enough to at least be able to read the game situation.

Singh joins Chandrika not ready for the highest level

summergon 2017-05-14 13:05:52

Let Hety stay and learn on the job. The regional FC or dung heap competition will not help him. He needs to learn to plan a Test innings. The mental approach is what needs improving. Only experience at the higher level will help. He wont get mental preparation help at regional level. At the test level Adams should get him the help he needs to maximize his performance.

If neither of those two necessary replacements for Chanderpaul is ready do you have anyone in mind who would be? wink wink

imusic 2017-05-14 14:28:47

I wouldn't be surprised if the coaching staff instructed and encouraged Hety to play his natural game.

Once he's in the XI, seems like sound advice to me. No sense having him try to play in a manner to which he's unaccustomed.

That his performances to date provide evidence that he's not quite ready for this level at this point is instructive. But once he's in the team, he needs to play to his strengths.

Besides, many on this MSB were insisting that Hety, and to a lesser extent Cheesey, be included in the starting team. Now some of them bawlin he not ready.

Players on the sidelines ALWAYS look good. Until they actually in the team cool

Case in point, look how good Blackwood looking in this series cool

100% agree on everything u said there.

Players when picked have to be allowed and encourage to play their natural game if thats what made them scored their runs to get moved up to this level.
U cant pick a guy who scored all of his FC runs a certain way then call him up to Test and ask him to bat in another way.

And so true with the hindsight experts. Most were happy with the selections at the start.
They only bawl after they see the results.

As said the best players are always the one not in the team.

To replace Chanderpaul? Sorry bro I don't see any prodigy in the wings as yet. Chanders dominated under 19 and had scored a triple in FC before WI call up.

Desmond Haynes and Richie Richardson were very attacking players in the Shell Shield competition, when they got to test cricket they buckled down and played differently.

Hetmyer will come good in Test cricket, and his apprenticeship will continue uninterrupted unless Lil B comes back.

Will Hetmyer be like Viv? He has the potential, but is more like Faoud Bacchus at present.

It will be hard to keep Vishaul, with Blackwood waiting, but Vishaul will continue his good work for Guyana, WI A, etc. He is a hard worker and quite determined. It's hard to understand his falling away in recent months.

They shouldn't play him as a reward, but as giving him the tool to develop his game.
