The West Indies selectors and Hetmyer and Singh

analyst-kid 2017-05-14 10:55:44

The selectors experiment with Hetmyer and Singh over Blackwood has been deemed a dismal error and now failure.

In the Barbados Sunday Sun today they are been murdered by the Bajan veteran journalists including Mike King and Ezra Stuart.

not surprising.

Shai Hope is yet to average 20 in tests after 10 tests

have they any word on him?

How about the player with 35+ tests who can't score a run this series

any word on him

shane dowrich who replaced Ramdin because of runs is still struggling

any word on him?

tell king and stuart to go wash dat insularity out

easy to talk after the fact I have more respect for people who say what they want before the event without fear of coming in wrong.

I have a guess that the Selectors will select Hetmyer for the England tour later this year, it would be good for his development, as he is still very young. However, the Selectors had to take a chance on someone and Singh and Hetmyer were the two chosen. IMO, Mohammed would have been a better option as he has already showed that he could produce.

BECUZ I gave you an isolated report ON A QUESTION directed to them re the selections of Hetmyer and Singh does not represent the full picture.

Mike King says the team is a very inexperienced one at test level and to bring Hetmyer and Singh is to compound the issue further.

Mike King personally told me the whole team useless but you guys wont know that.

doosra 2017-05-14 11:21:58

In reply to analyst-kid

contrary, i do not thing the entire team is useless

that's my issue with those arm chair analysts

they feel like if they are fair enough it will somehow give some players a pass or a fall automatically

just be fair...even if it means being critical of your own

Question Posed:

DO YOU AGREE WITH THE WEST INDIES SELECTORS PICKING ROOKIE BATSMEN SHIMRON HETMYER AND VISHUAL SINGH FOR THE ENTIRE THREE TEST SERIES AGAINST PAKISTAN?

EZRA STUART: DEFINITELY NOT! It was unwise and incomprehensible to play both in an already inexperienced middle order with Shai Hope,Roston Chase and Shane Dowrich having played fewer than ten Tests and still feeling their way.....also Jermaine Blackwoodwho averaged 31.33 in 20 tests with a hundred and nine half centuries including 95 against Pakistan in his penultimate Test, shouldn't have been dropped for Singh, who is susceptible to fast bowling and a liability in the outfield.

MIKE KING : CERTAINLY NOT! Neither Hetmyer nor Singh should be playing test cricket. They are simply not good enough. No.3 is reserved for the best of the best...a position held proudly by George Headley,Rohan Kanhai,Viv Richards and Richie Richardson.I think the 20 year old left hander from Berbice is one for the future but he is not nearly ready yet.
The truth is Darren Bravo is the only one around good enough to bat No.3 and it is important that the impasse between him and WICB President Dave Cameron be resolved. His experience is required in this modest side.

CRAIG COZIER: With selectors hamstrung slightly the faith in Hetymer and Singh is understandable, as these have been two of the more solid performers in regional cricket.
But as Misbah-ul-Haq says goodbye to Test CRICKET JUST SHY OF HIS 43rd birthday ,it must make the West Indians yearn for the class and experience of Shivnarine Chanderpaul...a couple of months younger than the Pakistan skipper and with a superior record.....he was cast aside unceremoniously two years back.

The exile of Darren Bravo is another source of frustration.

Jermaine Blackwood is another name that probably be inked in that middle order.

The selection of these two Guyanese rookies may be understandable in the circumstances but problems will persist when there is not a core of experience guiding these newcomers.

Hasan Ali to Shai Hope, out Lbw!! Maiden Test wicket for Hasan Ali. A fist-pump, and then some more, and then opens his arms to the heavens. And what a ball to get there. Gets it to reverse back in viciously and

Shai Hope lbw b Hasan Ali 17(54) [4s-2]

The people so transparent man. So what is his solution knowing Bravo will not be available? You can't play 10 and leave #3 vacant? Why isn't he saying who should bat at 3? Surely someone has to play....

analyst-kid 2017-05-14 11:58:29

In reply to Kay

Only solution there is to bring back Shiv and put him at 3.

FuzzyWuzzy 2017-05-14 12:20:13

In reply to analyst-kid

Nonsense. Why not bring back Viv or kanhai? We have to have patience. Ok Hetmeyer didn't work out so you try someone else like Ambris or Blackwood. Going back is counterproductive.

analyst-kid 2017-05-14 15:40:59

In reply to FuzzyWuzzy

What I am implying is that only one outside Bravo good enough to bat at 3 is Shiv.

Going back however is NOT counter productive if your batting has no experienced players.
