Blackwood retire ?
Anybody but Singh. He aint ready and will not be ready on the evidence of this series at HOME. I would rather take the 20 year old Carty of Leewards. He has more upside.r Brendon King is another if they are investing in youth..Mohamed and Ambris are also more worthy at this stage.
Johnson is probably more deserving as he was not treated well.Hope he hasn't lost his thirst for the game.Anyone who stood up to Steyn and Morkel on Saffie tracks can offer more than current crop. England ? The ball swings there and it is unlikely that the newest debutants will succeed teher.Unless you believe in catching lightning in a bottle.
When I see Sing 'bats',i am reminded that there is a REASON, calculus is not taught to Kindergaarteners.

After a dominating performance in the tour match , call it nerves or something else Singh needs to go back to the drawing board . That Test average of 13.25 , scores of 3,32,9,9, 8 and now 2.... not good enough.

I didn't mention Blackwood because he is definitely going. I think Carty is a season away. He is a genuine 3 or 4. I haven't seen King as yet.

You know more than me re Blackwood. I will believe it when I see the squad depart.
he man averaged 31 in his career and was the incumbent.The two debutants batted 12 times and havd a combined average of 13.
By the selectors matrix,,Blackwood is unlikely to get picked

Blackwood needs to get back to that focus he had when he put up 90 and a 130 in the same game against Bim. This drop should help him.

Drops hurt even more than help a player. Speaking from experience and the psychological factor. I hear people proffer that view all the time without any evidence.It is a truism without much merit in my view. Speak to individuals and you probably won't get that ' drop helped me' from them. Try it before you believe it.

Do that. If a player like Singh is dropped he won't hurt because he knows within himnself that he aint up to snuff and he did not perform. Contrast that with a Desmond Lewis who averaged over 80 ,batted down the order,kept wicket and opened too and was NEVER given another game.
Or Robert Samuels who left OZ scoring over 100 in two innings,one not out in a victory.It was only his 6th test and he already had Test ton too.Less than a month later as the incumbent with Campbell as openers ,he was ditched for the next Test at Bina v India never to be called on again. Or was Sarwan the same after he was dropped by his captain when he was Vice captain. Was he ever the same ?
I can tell you that Lewis,(who lives in Atlanta area) and Samuels were hurt in more ways than two.
Contrast that with player who did well and was never recognized too.Neville Bonitto and Renford Pinnock. The former had a high 50s average in his FC career.They hurt but not in the same way.. because they were not actually picked and then dumped for lesser players. It is a player like Blackwood who will feel very hurt. Cricketers are not immune from mental issues for for whatever reasons.Being dumped for inferior talent does not help.
I gave Blackwood some unsolicited advice in an earlier post...hone skills and look for 20/20 offerings....Test cricket being lessened each year and his future can be better secured in that area as the whims of selectors in Waste Indies cricket can put severe hurt in many places.

Totally agree with you Hubert. When a WI player gets dropped it is a punishment to the player for poor performance. CWI has no plan to help a player develop or improve once they drop a player. When a Australian player gets dropped he is able to work on his problem and once his problem has shown improvement he is brought back in when an opportunity present itself.

I think the Academy should not have been closed down. It should have move the focus to achieving maximum performance from the the players. Only the best from the academy would advance to this programe. The last program the Academy had was developing the players for first class level cricket but they had nothing to take them or support them at the test level.

It's as old as WI and every territory and its players have suffered too..
Poor Ganteuame...Ton on debut..discarded and recalled when he was almost a pensioner for a tour of England...phew.
