Was there a message (reminder) from the dressing room? I didn't watch the game, just asking.

Everyone blaming Gabriel
In reply to Wally-1
I am yet to see anyone say he alone cost us the series because at the end of the day he did well as a bowler and was MOM in a test.
But there is no question that shot was really stupid.
In reply to Wally-1
Youngsters fought well. Game experience cost them the game. Guys like Taylor or Roach would have thought draw all the way. Angel just had momentary a rush! He did well to get it to the position we were in though. Tough loss.
We have to learn the game!
Yes he played a poor shot but at the end of the day I guess the pressure of men around the bat got to him but should we be blaming him for losing the test when there was no demons in the pitch and the batsman batted so poorly and got out to poor shots especially that shot kriagg played

Wally, it was the last ball of the penultimate over of the match. No cricketer, even at basic school level, should need reminding-or a message from the dressing room - of what was required of him in that situation
In reply to jacksprat
I completely agree with you (only this time lol). These are not robots these are normal young men who ought to be able to read the game better that we the spectators
In reply to Wally-1
It's in times like these when we miss Coach Otiss and his notes printed from that omnipresent laptop. After all, he even sent a message to Shiv telling him how to bat, so this would've been a no brainer.
In reply to FuzzyWuzzy
Come on now that's what coaches get paid for. Was there a message, even at the start of the over?
In reply to FuzzyWuzzy
these are normal young men
In reply to timeless99... YES!
I am sure this is not the first test match in history that required the number 11 to bat. I am certain if that was Courtney Walsh, that extravagant leave alone would a probably hit a close in fielder with bat than dragging one onto his stumps with the bat.
In reply to Wally-1... need there be a message, oh, forgot, you compensating for DUNCENESS!
In reply to natty_forever Yes, that's what coaches do, you cant leave it to chance, in this case brainlessness.
In reply to Wally-1... would agree if this was U19. NO FACKING EXCUSE, SORRY.
In reply to natty_forever If that's your opinion i raspect it Natty..However, coaches get paid to do a job..So was there communication between the batters and coach at the top of the over?..Just asking a simple question and no one has proffered an answer.
Reminder of what? An obvious point in a game you are out there yourself trying to save?
You think an Aussie or a Pommie would need to know this esp when a proud moment in their cricketing heritage needed to be preserved or protected?
TriniD wud have tuh search long, far, and wide tuh find ah more STUPID cricket shot in dat situation.
Nah. Eh eh. No excuse. Ah school boy cudda figure dat out. Really, all he had was one ball, and den WI's best batsman cud handle de rest.
In reply to Trinidave... and TDave, if he leave it alone it turns harmlessly away from him. SMFH!
In reply to natty_forever
Bruh Bruuuuuuh! Bruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuh! No phorquene reason for dat shot. Even Tino Best shook his head at dat one.
In reply to Wally-1
His brain locked up of which caused him to play a bonehead shot, which ultimately buried Windies...
.
In reply to Wally-1
Next time he must walk when he nicks one.
Truth be told he was out earlier
In reply to Trinidave
Guilt bro - knew he was out earlier
Gabriel did a Browne, it will forever haunt him
In reply to natty_forever
It was a googly so it wasn going to be turning away from him

Wally; Chase had a part to play in the downfall of Gabriel. Gabriel got a clear single on the 3rd ball of the penultimate over and Chase refused the single. Chase had already scored 100. He should have taken the single and then try to hold on to the strike by scoring another run hopefully on the 6th ball. He was the well set batsman.
Even if Gabriel was to face the last over, it wouldn't be from Pakistan's "strike" bowler Shah.
He being blamed when he should be adored like Walsh was?
Any one see how the Pak 9,10,11 block 24 balls for 2,3,4 runs and deh go from 124 to 174. Its called awareness.
This brain freeze or brain loss for moments during a game is why Gabriel is inconsistent. Same thing in his bowling lack on patience.
In reply to JamMack
And if he didn't get the single on the 6th ball then we would have been asking Gabriel to face six more balls instead of 3
In reply to Scar
what Viv would call "headless"
This reminds me of a similar incident involving Daren/Darren Powell. A did waan shoot him to!
Yes, I am tiad a DUNCE cricket(ers).
In reply to Jabari18
Yeah, but not from Shah. Probably from a Pace. Easier to play the pace for Gabriel. All them in field fielders probably wouldn't be as effective and Gabriel himself might have found it easier to score a single off the pace with the field crowding his bat. A su mi see it!
In reply to JamMack
No matter how we choose to analyse this, it was a brainless shot.
