You think Fed want to spoil his comeback record?

He had a great career. Hopefully this is his last year.

If Federer wins Wimbledon and/or the US Open, will you still feel that way?
Given Djokovic and Murray's struggles, Fed and Nadal look like the two best players on tour, and the two favourites at the Grand Slams.
This is an interesting year. Not only have Nadal and Federer turned back the hands of time, but you've got the top two players in the world absolutely stinking up the joint, and no youngsters making a push.
Even Stan Wawrinka has been MIA.
I still think Fed should've played at the French, and given all indications over the past few weeks, he was set to do so. I just don't think he'd fully commit to giving his everything at the French. For example, if Fed were to get down 2 sets to 1, or 2 sets to love early on in the tournament, is he really going to be motivated enough to dig deep and mount a comeback? Perhaps if it were the Quarters, Semis or Finals.
This is one long-ass layoff for a guy that isn't injured, as far as we know.
Fed is playing it smart though. He's putting in the hard yards in practice and expecting that, in tandem with his wealth of experience, to enable him to make a deep run in the slams. He's not going to extend himself at warmup tournaments.

You know he lost to a no-namer very early on in Dubai this year?
Fed plans to play for years.
