Good to see that LICA was able to organize some form of tournament to identify new players for the draft. Would be nice to see a 3day tournament too. Antigua and Nevis unbeaten so far. Would be nice if Kieran could join Nevis.

who is working with Keacy to get him experience elsewhere?

voiceofreason 2017-05-16 00:20:54

In reply to methodic

Chesney Hughes and Montcin Hodge have both played in England due to contacts made by Cardigan Connor. Chesney for a county team and Montcin in league cricket. Kelbert Walters as well in league all from Anguilla. Cardigan is now in the Government so I am not sure if he still plays that role so perhaps Mr. Anguilla can enlighten us. Keacy was born in St. Maarten ( French/Dutch)so He will not get the same privilege to readily play in county/league cricket as an Anguillan born player as Anguilla is a British dependent territory.

Perhaps Mr. Anguilla can tell us more.

Montserrat 162 all out in 45 overs: Mc Pherson Meade 32*

This guy played against my club up in Toronto a couple years ago. He got hit by one of our fast bowlers and was out hit wicket. Looked almost like he went into shock. Ambulance came as a precaution but he was able to field later on.

Yes Mcpherson has been around forever. He is only 38 but it seems like he has been around forever. Good attacking batsman, both and Dolson Tuitt have been big for Montserrat in the sub regionals for the past 10 years. Scoring heavily here but don't see him in the mix for LIST A. Jaison Peters is a good talent, a wicketkeeper who is a decent batsman but with Hamilton and Thomas around never got much play.

Not to my knowledge. Will ask. I believe he should be playing for Anguilla here.

It seems cricketers are moving around and playing for other teams the way they do in regional cricket. Carty from St Maarten is playing for Anguilla and Athanaze from Antigua is playing for Nevis.

It's good to see folks in the Leewards are more open to player movement. A few years ago a Leewards coach made the famous quote, "We don't need outside help", even as the Leewards were being pummeled game after game.

voiceofreason 2017-05-17 08:15:09

In reply to Fivestar

They are free to move around but Athanaze lives in Nevis and yes Carty has played previously for St.Maarten. Not much moving around, should be more. Couple years ago Sammy played for St.Maarten so I would like you I would like to see more movement from outside into the region. No Bonner or Cruickshank but it could be because LICA are no longer interested in them as contract players.

St Maarten in reply, was led by West Indies Under-19 player, Keacy Carty who made 92 not out as they reached 181 for three in reply

That must be a misprint as that was Anguilla vs St. Maarten but Keacy must be special to be playing for two teams.

Here he is:

Keacy Carty 4 for 36; Shane Burton 3 for 23; Mark Gakkatan 2 for 48

Anguilla: 189 all out: Keacy Carty 55; Jahmar Hamilton 26

Nelson Bolan 4 for 27; Jason Campbell 4 for 40

Nevis won by 29 runs

Here again:

Antigua & Barbuda v Anguilla

Summarized scores: Antigua & Barbuda 286 all out in 49.5 overs: Karima Gore 70; Kofi James 60; Jermaine Otto 55; Kadeem Phillip 40

Ashley White 3 for 50

Anguilla 287 for 5 in 45.3 overs: Shane Burton 83*; Jahmar Hamilton 65; Delon Skellekie 43; Kacey Carty 35

Looks like he bowls too. Interesting.

Anguilla.

aliaskid13 2017-05-20 18:41:45

I like the fact that Carty stands out in this tournament. That's exactly what you want to see in a potential future star player. Now just for him to make bigger scores. These bowlers here shouldn't be getting him out so easily. Make plenty, or make little and not out.
