you are correct sister, Mayor Bloomberg cut short his trip to Bermuda during the NYC floodings, Christie got a lot of political flack for not coming back to NJ during the same time.

You know what's worse - he was on an official trip to DR and no one knew because last week the Gleaner had a front page story about the number of trips since taking office and the $14M cost.

So there was no public statement about an official visit.

It is a problem if no business, overtime is garnered from these trips.

You have to spend on sales and promotion but you are a socialist you will never understand.

Yeah it looks familiar but I think that came on national TV if I am not mistaken so how would that be, if it actually did?

Also, I got a whatsapp audio recording of a lady who said she saw the thing happened.

If it is false, you really can't believe Nything you see these days.

camos 2017-05-17 12:58:19

that came from flooding in southern Africa.

jacksprat 2017-05-17 13:21:47

I think the video is of an incident in Pakistan. When I first saw it yesterday I had my doubts because the pople did not sound Jamaican

We can not always believe what we 'see'

Back in the day I recall that a number of people swore they can seen the 3 wheel coffin! big grin

A release from the OPM on the official visit to the DR.

"Prime Minister Andrew Holness left the island this evening (May 15) for an official visit to the Dominican Republic..."

So you wanted the PM to cancel an official visit...and the reason: because of a matter that has not yet happened.

Diplomacy at its best for you.

Chrissy 2017-05-17 17:42:10

None one of my friends or I heard anything on the news or read anything in di Gleaner.

But that hardly matters - he left in di middle of di rain. If layperson me was warning folks about serious rain from last week, why weren't they paying attention.

Guess your peeps pay so much attention that peeps have to die during Christmas floods. Defend dem all.

In reply to Chrissy

Yes, cancel the visit at the eleventh hour because of impending heavy rains. And tell the DR officials: I am cancelling the official visit because the anticipated heavy rains are expected to cripple Jamaica and my country cannot deal with any disaster without my physical presence.

And further, Jamaica and the DR are thousands of miles away and there is absolutely no communication links between the two countries and my office could not have arranged for my speedy return in case of emergency.

Signed.
PM Andrew Holness.

Allyuh good wee.

Diplomacy for you.

Only a hating ass like you would make such an asinine statement.

FYI, the Christmas eve deluge registered the highest amount of rainfall ever recorded in Saint Lucia during a 24 hour period.

The deaths which you refer to were mainly as a result of landslides brought about by Hurricane Thomas which will happen with such intense rainfall in any island in our region. No amount of forward planning could have mitigated against this.

The recovery for the trough, considering the widespread damage, was miraculous.

Continue to take your cheap asinine pot shots.

Your problem is you like to chat without checking details. Go check out the rainfall numbers in some parishes in the past three days.

As the discussions have stated clearly this was no normal rain.

It is a fact that your people were not properly informed about the severity of the rain either.

Wake up - there is no need for people not to know in advance - people just need to check and they'd better with all this climate change.

Cheap asinine shots are what you take most of the time - deal with it.

In reply to Chrissy

And the information on weather systems will only be disseminated to the people of Jamaica when the Prime Minister is on island? Foolish!!

Now your cheap shot says "people died".

Go inform yourself. NO ONE DIED AS A RESULT OF THE CHRISTMAS EVE TROUGH.

And BTW, there were warnings from the Met Office.

Even your favourite channel - Weather.com predicted scattered showers for the day.

But as usual, your sensational, uninformed version is re-invented and intended to deceive.

In its midday Christmas Eve forecast, the MET Office had warned that residents in areas prone to flooding and landslides are asked to exercise caution. Small craft operators and sea bathers are advised to exercise caution due to rough seas”.

Met office releases are never enough when serious weather events approach.

What about Weather.com which predicted scattered showers for the day and a 60 percent chance of rain? Did you not read it in the article or is it your haste to spread drivel?

Now Kiss Your Own Skunt. I have had enough of your uninformed and ridiculous garbage.
