I'm planning to visit Trinidad for the first time to watch WI/India in the upcoming ODI's and would like to know which is the best stand to see the games.

If you wanna fete and grind pon some Trini poontang while catching a bit of the cricket then I highly recommend the Trini Posse stand. big grin

If you wanna actually watch the cricket then any other stand will do. lol

Sorry, we want to just watch cricket.
In Jamaica, we go to the George Headley Stand and Barbados, we go to 3W's stand. Which stand is equivalent to these in term of location at the Oval?

At the Oval - with a good crowd, the best stand is the one you're in!

But for an ODI... most of the stands will be empty, so aside from the Trini Posse stand, you'll be able to sit wherever you want

If you want to watch the cricket, buy tickets at either end of the wicket, straightish. IIRC, QPO has one section of the stand as a "party stand" with music and a lot of drinks etc - if that floats your boat, but I would think that's going to more for the locals.

Do you know anyone local in Trinidad? If you do, that makes exploring a lot more interesting and accessible.

Make sure you try "doubles" with slight pepper. Don't be arrogant about your spice tolerance - start with slight pepper.

If you are interested in staying at the hotel that the Indian team stays at - Hilton is good odds, its either that or the Hyatt. But I think the Indian team is more likely to stay at the Hilton. That's where I stayed, and I think its closer to the stadium than the Hyatt.

Wherever you end up staying, be aware of traffic - ridiculous levels of traffic in the daytime.

Don't be shy about talking to the fans around you at the game - some of the most welcoming and good natured fans around - It can only add to your experience, and you may end up making some good friends.

Tack on a couple of days if you can to check out tobago. Nice little island, with a few decent beaches.

For me its between Cyril Duprey & Trini Posse

Avoid Carib stand its always over packed.

Ever since I've been going to watch cricket (almost 30 years now) , I've been always going to Learie Constantine stand.

Specifically the upper stand, close to the media Centre. It gives you a perspective of 2nd/3rd slip for a right-handed batsman, when the bowler is running in from the pavilion end. It's basically a similar (opposite end) view of Carib stand, without the crowd.

Good spot if you want to seriously take in cricket.
