Stop their immigration, revoke their visas and then closely police the ones who are citizens.

"With respect to Libya, the president has long said that all of us - including the United States - could have done more in the aftermath of the Libyan intervention." It also said the UK had "stepped up on a range of issues", including a pledge to spend 2% of national income on defence. According to the Atlantic's article, this pledge came after Mr Obama told Mr Cameron that Britain must pay its "fair share" if it wanted to continue to claim a "special relationship" with the US. The toppling of the Gaddafi regime in Libya led to a power vacuum and instability, with no authority in full control. The intervention was led by the UK and France - and in his interview, Mr Obama reflected on "what went wrong", saying: "There's room for criticism, because I had more faith in the Europeans, given Libya's proximity, being invested in the follow-up." He said Mr Cameron became "distracted by a range of other things".

The cycle of violence

Britain bombs Libya, and leaves it a mess. A young man of Libyan parentage blows himself up in Manchester. Any assessment of "why" needs to discuss this possible connection.

The alleged perpetrator was a British-born citizen just as the Orlando terrorist was an American-born citizen; as was the terrorist who shot & killed 9 people in the church in South Carolina; as was the choirboy, Timothy McVeigh, who bombed the building in Oklahoma City which resulted in the death of thousands, including several infants.

How do you propose banning 'these people' ? rolleyes

British intelligence stop sharing information with their counterparts here in the USA because they are LEAKING details to the media!

nitro 2017-05-25 07:59:51

Maybe now the Democrats will see how harmful these leaks are to national security.

ProWI 2017-05-25 09:49:59

In reply to nitro

Nitro, FYI, most leaks are coming from Trump's administration, as the various factions fight for influence, or concerned insideers alert the America people of the workings of the Russian plant occupying the Oval Office.

nitro 2017-05-25 13:49:02

In reply to ProWI

The leaks in the British investigation are coming from our intelligence units, not the White House.

nitro 2017-05-25 13:57:12

US President Donald Trump has said leaks of the investigation into the Manchester Arena attack to American media are "deeply troubling".
They were a "grave threat to our national security", he added, and pledged to get to the bottom of it.
His remarks come after US media published photos from the scene of Monday night's explosion.
Salman Abedi blew himself up after an Ariana Grande concert, killing 22 people and injuring 116.
Mr Trump, who is at a Nato summit in Brussels along with UK Prime Minister Theresa May, said: "These leaks have been going on for a long time."
He pledged to ask the US Department of Justice to launch a review, and "if appropriate, the culprit should be prosecuted".
"There is no relationship we cherish more than the special relationship between the US and the UK," he added.

mikesiva 2017-05-26 01:58:00

'Jeremy Corbyn is to take the hugely controversial step of blaming Britain’s foreign wars for terror attacks such as the Manchester suicide bombing. The Labour leader will claim a link between “wars our government has supported or fought in other countries and terrorism here at home”, as he relaunches his party’s election campaign on Friday after the three-day pause. Mr Corbyn will stress that his assessment is shared by the intelligence and security services and “in no way reduces the guilt of those who attack our children”....In the speech, he is not expected to name any specific wars, having – as a backbencher – opposed the conflicts in Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya and against Isis, in Iraq and Syria. At the Iraq Inquiry in 2010, Baroness Manningham-Buller, the former head of MI5, said the invasion had “substantially” increased the terrorist threat to the UK, by radicalising young people. However, The Independent understands that Mr Corbyn wishes to draw attention to his March 2011 vote against the Libya bombing – when he was one of just 13 MPs to oppose David Cameron.'

Finally, a British political leader prepared to make connections between the wars and terrorism....

In reply to mikesiva

Solutions please.

Whatever the reasons, from the creation of the state of Israel, with Israel defeating the Arab world in three wars, to the wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, etc, we must now find a way to get rid of these people to protect innocent citizens.

Police these people, citizens or not, very closely. Track their every move.

Yes, reassess policies, however that maybe impossible because of tribalism in these Asian and African countries.

nitro 2017-05-26 20:47:55

In reply to jacksprat

We need to have stricter gun controls to protect us from racists such as the one who slaughtered the worshipers. Mcveigh type i do not know how you can track his type but acts from people like him are once in a lifetime.

The homegrown Islamic terrorists on the other hand are numbered in the thousands with almost daily attacks worldwide. Hence to mitigate loss of life we should target them as a group.

jacksprat 2017-05-26 22:28:15

You answered a question I did not ask!

Again, How do you propose banning 'these people'?

And your answer is to "target them as a group" and presumably ban people who are natives of their respective countries.

To call your proposal illogical, illegal and even, I daresay, idiotic would be putting it mildly!!!

nitro 2017-05-27 04:54:30

In reply to jacksprat

Ban refers to the ones who are trying to get here, i.e. those in the proposed travel ban.

I was speakibg of monitoring closely those already here as citizens.

nitro 2017-05-27 04:59:16

Manchester, England (CNN)British authorities are trying to contain the network they believe is behind the Manchester attack as it emerged that the suicide bomber, Salman Abedi, reportedly spoke to his brother in Libya just 15 minutes before he detonated his explosives.

Reagan? Great??

Ronald Reagan's policies propped up murderous Central American regimes in El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras, and his support of the Contras in Nicaragua resulted in the systematic destruction of that country's infrastructure, and the deaths of over 50,000 Nicaraguans.

The Iran-Contra scandal, the support of Saddam Hussein's regime during the Iraq/Iran war, and his support of the apartheid South African regime are other examples of Reagan's morally flawed foreign policy.

His domestic policy marginalised minorities and the poor, and he lacked an enlightened policy towards the AIDS epidemic.
