Obviously it is becuz of the eligibility rule...but IT SEEMS RIDICULOUS that your only ODI ranked player in Narine is available and left out.

Lewis
Powell
Hope
Mohammed
Chase
Holder
Powell
Nurse
Cummins
Joseph
Gabriel
....that is my team...leave out Bishoo and the unreliable Carter....Afghan doan like pace ..two 90mph bowlers in Gabriel and Joseph and Cummins who did well against them in the President Eleven match and the pacers have took the bulk of the wickets in both T20s.

It is again obvious that the eligibility rule of not playing in the Super 50 marks out Narine and Samuels who are your two premiere ODI players.
The selectors in exposing Chase are looking to build a team of emerging players but this is WI weakest format and Rashid Khan and Afghan are more dangerous in the ODIs.
I doubt however that Afghan can survive this four-prong (Gabriel,Joseph,Cummins and Holder) if selected and post a competitive score.

Why is Bishoo still in the squad? Does he have a godfather?

Still no Blackwood, the Selectors are stunting the development of this player. Against a team like Afgan, most forward-thinking people would think that it would be a good idea to have Blackwood in the team getting ready for the England tour. He still is one of the futures of WI cricket and he scores quickly, it is hard to understand the logic of his omission.

I agree with you.
But, should they select a 14man squad or leaveout someone for him? If the latter, who?

Maybe it is the same one who used to protect Darren Powell, Daren Ganga, Devon Smith & Darren Sammy

Who exactly is mine again ? Am probably the biggest Marlon Samuels fan on here, to the point where my frieds label me a Marlon apologist. When i questioned Dowrich and his tame surrender against Leverage in the Jamaica game, someone assumed i was Jamaican. Since am not from either place, you need to take anither guess. I only care about Windies cricket but i know that is a strange concept to grasp.

In reply to NYCGURU... again I say, one of yours. I am sure you don't think you're unique! Always found your answer to be from those most insular.

My very first post on this site was in defense of Marlon Samuels and how poorly i thought the early part of his career was handled. I caught a lot of flack because i was not aware that he was the most polarizing player in the region. I was in Jamaica for the Pakiston test with a friend i go with every year, he is still pissed that no Jamaican was in the starting 11. I begged to differ because in my opinion Blackwood left the door open by not stamping his class in the local competition.

If you consider yourself as non-insular why not call out Hope who continues to be selected despite an average of less than 20, instead of collaborating with one the most insular persons on the board.

why not call out Hope who continues to be selected despite an average of less than 20,
Selectors have put their faith in Hope...biblically defined as "
the evidence of things not seen" ...at least not on any other wicket except Kensington Oval
(please forgive the theological reference)

I never use the term insular. Quite frankly i find it sad and tiring. Who said that Hope has a license to play forever if he does not produce. Other than Chase, Holder and Gabriel when healthy i dont see any player in this team who can be considered a sure thing.

Obviously Courtney Brown is saying it!
In recent memory
batsmen have been dropped who average much higher than Hope...
If you like, I can name a few of them but I think you know who they are.
Here's one example ...Leon Johnson of Guyana..16 test innings ...AVG 25..2 half centuries

Look at the dishonourable discharge of the great Shiv with an average of over 40 and he still continues to be a better batsman today than most, including Hope.

Bishoo ODI figures: 20 20 1008 760 27 3/30 3/30 28.14 4.52 37.3 0 0 0
Think those figures highlighted are why.

Hope has played 10 ODIs ave 36.00 with 1 century and one fifty.
Hope has played 10 test matches with 19 innings avg 19.57 with 1 fifty
Based on his poor test averages are you saying he shouldn't make the ODI squad?

Heaven forbid! I'm certainly not saying that. I believe the reference to Hope was based on his test returns.
His 1-day returns are good considering he averages the same as Chris Gayle.
