Its Major time in the golf world again!

All of the big names are lined up for whats shaping up to be a cracker of a US Open. Phil is highly likely to miss this tournament due to prioritizing his daughters graduation ceremony and barring a miracle may not make it back to start the tournament.

However, all of the other top contenders are back and rearing to go. Dustin Johnson will look to defend his title; Rory has recovered from "injury" and his honeymoon and is excited; Jason Day is in a better place now than earlier in the year when his mother's cancer was a major distraction; Sergio is looking to add to his newly minted major crown; and Jordan Spieth is looking to right the ship.

Others are looking to break their major drought at long last (looks at Lee Westwood).

The course is going to be the usual USGA tricked up tough as nails US Open set up. Already folks (Kevin Na) are griping about the fescue which is knee high in some places and thick as pea soup. However, Rory pointed out that these people need to stop griping as the fairways are quite wide (widest he has seen for a US Open set up). So driving accuracy is going to be a priority...drive the ball long and as accurately as possible.

My early prediction is for DJ to repeat as champion. I think Rory may be able to contend as well. I do not see Spieth winning or even showing in the top 10. His scrambling this year has been more than lacklustre. Day may have a decent finish as well.

Read that this may be the first major without either Tiger or Mickleson since 1994.

Also, they're on a streak of 6 straight first-time major winners.

Rough going for some...smooth sailing for others. Its been a weird day. Steady wind at around 15 mph all day. Not howling...but not light breezes either. In addition, there is the fescue.

Jason Day is currently 6 over par. Thats shocking and I fear he is out of this US Open.

You cannot win it on Thursday...but u can definitely lose it.

Folks this is incredible. Most of the top players are in danger of missing the cut.

Hoping Rickie Fowler can break through. I think he's every bit as good as Jason Day, Spieth, Rory, etc etc.

WELCOME TO THE FINAL DAY AND HAPPY FATHERS DAY TO ALL FATHERS ON THE BOARD.

An intriguing round of golf awaits us as we will crown the 7th straight first time major winner today. No other major winners are within a sniff of the lead although that could change quickly. But we are more likely to get a first timer.

Will is be the flashy Fowler? Will it be his friend Justin Thomas who set a US Open single round record with a 63 yesterday? Can it be Harman who holds on to his 54 hole lead? Will Reed cement his view as a to 5 player in the world?

All these stories are firmly in play today.

The wind is up and blowing sure and true laddies.

Things are so rough out there that Jordan Spieth has the round of the day going....with a -2 so far!!!!

The leaders are a few moments away from teeing off. Fowler has teed off and has a decent look at birdie on the par 5 1st to get to -11.

Brooks Koekpa and Fleetwood are teeing off now.

Fowler makes his presence felt! Birdie to get to -11 and one back of Harman.

Koepka leads from Fleetwood and Fowler and Harman. Koepka is -13. Fleetwood is -11; Harman is still -12.

Fleetwood dumped his tee shot on the 4th into the high fescue. Problems.

Fowler made a big par save on the 4th just now to remain at -11.

Justin Thomas made a bad bogey on the easy par 4 second and dropped back to -10. Bad mistake there.

Birdie from Harman on the 3rd. Needed the entire hole but it rolled in. He is now tied for the lead at -13.

Koepka misses birdie bid to take the solo lead.

Fleetwood makes a bomb par save to remain at -11. Nice and clutch.

Bogey on 5 for Fowler and he drops back to -10. He is E for the day and 3 back from the leaders. But its a funny sorta course where a lead can quickly turn to a deficit.

Koepka hits it a country mile on the 5th into the fairway. Gosh...he is long off the tee.

Lawks...Thomas misses a short par putt and falls to -9 after 4.

Charley Hoffman makes birdie on the 7th and gets to -10.

Update:

Harman and Koepka still lead at -13. Fowler made birdie on 7 to get back to -11. Fleetwood in trouble on the 8th. Thomas is stinking up the place and is now -8.

Matsuyama makes birdied at 12 and gets to -10.

Koepka sinks a long birdie putt on 8th and gets to -14.

Birdie on Fleetwood on 9 and he gets to -10.

Solid tournament for Steve Stricker who finishes at -5.

Bogey for Koepka after 10 and he drops back into a tie for the lead at -13.

Koepka misses a birdie bid on 11 and remains at -13.

Par for Harman on 10.

Bogey on 12 for Fowler and he drops back to -10 and 3 back of Harman and Koepka.

Matsuyama -11 through 16....he could post a score....

Koepka makes par on 12. Remains tied at -13 with Harman. Its getting tighter and tighter.

Harman in trouble off the 12th.

Big par save from Koepka and Fleetwood on 13. Koepka remains tied for the lead with Harman who is in a spot of bother on the 12th.

Birdie for Matsuyama on 18 and he is the clubhouse leader at -12.

Harman with a bad putt for par and a big miss. Big miss at the wrong time. Drops back to -11.

Koepka has a tricky 3 footer for birdie on the 14th too.

Koepka buries the birdie in the hole and take it to -14. He has a 2 shot cushion over Matsuyama. Fleetwood makes birdie as well and he goes to -11.

Birdie for Koepka on 15 and he opens up to -15.

Birdie for Koepka on 16 and the engraver is getting to work!

Koepka blasts one down the 18th fairway into another zip code.

Koepka wins by 4 shots. Ties Rory McIlroy for the lowest score in relation to par at the US Open. -16.
