I see a lot of folks from the Caribbean with degrees or diplomas from the above institution. They do correspondence courses especially in accounting, are these recognized in the US? What about the standards and comparison to accredited degrees etc

On line degrees are the future...you can work full time and do your degree at your own pace.

I believe Daren Ganga did his law degree on line with University of London

...but what kinda future

You think someone who reads full time for a 3 or 4 year degree is equivalent to online leaning? Needs must, I get it though.

Are they recognized? I heard some say no and others say yes.
They did these in the 80's and 90's not online, I think was mailed or through local schools

When I was in school in bim some masters took their degrees thru London.they took the yearly final at
a centre with proctors .
to prepare for the 3rd year final many took that term off from teaching. it was not easy.

I know of many who took london GCE instead of O &C.

I am not hook on internet courses, since someone can take the exam for you.

By the way, Barrow , Burnham got their law degrees from London.

One of my uncles did a BA in English by correspondence through
University of London in the late 50s....I remember him saying to me he went to Trinidad by boat to write the exams..and up to the mid 60s he was a lecturer at the Teachers Training College in Mudland....so it was recognized.

He left mudland in the late 60s for England where he completed his law degree...and stayed to practice in England...died a few years ago in England at 80 yrs old

These on line degrees are not recognized in the USA for upper level positions in Government.

Harvard also offer free on line certificate courses which may be useful for enhancing your personal knowledge.

agreed, many of my teachers got their degrees from London thru their external program, the program was more rigid that internet program of today.

I heard that you only had one final, that was tough

No one will know whether the degree is online or not - Schools don't make that distinction on the piece of paper!

Personally, an online degree is not my cup of tea, but people with it are braggadocious just like the traditionalist!

Well they should, as a prospective employer I would like to know. Earning your credentials without the hard work and sweat not for me.
