And Trump to Quantanamo Bay.
Dat ain't no rumour.

Carmelo ain't leaving NY. He doesn't like to step outside of his comfort zone.
Latest rumour I heard this morning was the revival of the Banana Boat rumour of Chris Paul, Melo, Wade and LeBron.
Seems Melo is poised to stay in NY even if just out of spite for Phil Jackson. And good for him.

Any team with Carmelo Anthony on it has a serious defensive liability! Off the Cleveland bench...yes... but certainly not a starter!
In reply to SirGarny
Carmelo kind of has the same issues Dwight Howard does but in reverse. The kind of star player who doesn't necessarily make his teammates better, while having significant deficiencies in their game. Last player made 'better' by Melo's presence was Hakim Warrick. At least Howard has a couple of DPOYs to his resume.
Even worse for Melo is that the Knicks brand, big as it is, is so toxic at the moment, what quality FA is going to want to join up?

How many coaches is that the last 10 years? D'Antoni, Fisher, Mike Woodson, Hornacek, Rambis, Isaiah Thomas...

Isiah Thomas?

I feel for Woodson. He was willing to work with the system and Phil sent him packing for his own guy, and we know how that went.

Agree 100%
Cant believe you all are talking about this. They say you should not spread rumours, and thats when you are part of the circle. Why would any one bother to discuss a "rumour" from someone not even in the Basketball trade? Or NBA? Or General manager? Or agents?
I mean seriously? Who cares about what some dope comes up with while eating a meatball sammich at his local dive?
I cant stand Lebron. But the guy is smart and only cares about his brand. There is 0 chance, 0! that Lebron would want to play with Carmelo! Why? because Carmelo does not make the Cavs stronger against the Warriors! In fact he is a weaker defender than even Love! He does not move without the ball and is slower than my grandma!

The one time Cleveland beat GSW in the finals, they set multiple offensive NBA records to do so
You're not going to stop the GSW from scoring. Cleveland showed that you can however, outscore them
Kyrie isn't a defensive specialist. There's no defensive player that's going to have a significant impact against Steph, KD, Draymond, and Klay. If you manage to restrict one...the others will get you.
The Cavs have one of the premier rebounders in the NBA in Tristan Thompson. He had minimal impact against GSW
So Melo's lack of defence isn't an issue for the Cavs IMO. It's all about...can he score. And he's a better SCORER than EVERYONE on the Cavs team....INCLUDING LeBron.

Good points. But do not overlook the fact that even in that historic point scoring fiesta that game was within reach for the Warriors until late. Cleveland played fast and matched the intensity of the Warriors. Also the reports of Carmelo's offensive advantage are exagerated. Love beats him percentage wise. Just like Westbrook flourished stats wise when KD left, the reverse would be true of Carmelo with 2 other stars on his team. Carmelo is thrashed by Love on the defensive end. Check their rebounds!
It is not just that the Warriors are great scorers. People seem to not realize, what makes them so great is that their best players are versatile. They were one of the best defensive teams! That defense comes from their best players! Draymond, Klay, Durant...and even Steph can give you a crucial steal when needed!
Even if Love was not able to go off as needed, he did provide them with nuff second and third chances. Carmelo has not shown he can do that. Plus who would Carmelo guard? Too slow to guard Durant. Too slow to guard Steph, too cumbersome to keep up with Klay, Cant bang with Draymond!
He is just not equipped to play the type of ball that Warriors force from opponents. Keep in mind that the Monkey is off the Warriors back. They blew up a great team and brought in a star...question was would the team continue to run like the 73 win team did. They eliminated that question in the very first year! Now they are going to play even looser. More scary.
This much is true...Melo is better than Love

How about games missed?
In reply to DukeStreet
Yeah i saw that. but in this age of resting players it does not matter. They dont need him for Regular Season....they need him for Playoffs. The Finals to be precise.
Dude, Carmelo's best scoring output was 10 years ago? 10!!! And we are not talking about a guy who is a dynamo to begin with.
Carmelo's best fg% was .492! His worst, .426! 5 years ago he was at .452 it has declined steadily to this years .432!
In reply to Ayenmol
I think his stats will be more meaningful playing with a winner where he is not the main guy....
In reply to ray
Again, why? The man`s a scorer. So you telling me that when he does not have to score as much he`ll be more valuable?
He does little else and at 14 years in the League you seriously do not expect him to change at this point do you?
In reply to Ayenmol
Let's be real. Is Carmelo really a scorer or does he only thrive when he is the ball hog supremo? He will have issues sharing the ball if added to this team. I see issues with chemistry here.
Well if this morning's report of Jackson getting bought out comes to fruition, there may be revived hope of Melo and the Knicks becoming relevant within the next couple years.
In reply to DukeStreet
With James ability to hit the open man, I really don't see a problem with Chemistry...anyway, looks like Phis is a goner...so, who knows what happens next

Just found out yesterday that it was Draymond Green who texted Kevin Durant moments after their game 7 loss to Cleveland. Deep down he knew that a health Cleveland team couldn't be beat. Not even by a 73 - win Golden State team...
