Wanted for WI: One day batsmen.

analyst-kid 2017-06-26 14:06:08

Batsmen who can bat over 10 overs consistently and score at near a run a ball 80-100 scoring rate. You need at least four to five of such batsmen to make a competitive one day batting side.

Mohammed demonstrated this ability early in the other series vs Eng and Pak but now he has fell away and lost form.

Samuels we know has this ability and his inclusion though not possible would make the WI batting more competitive.

Hope in four matches has demonstrated this ability but I can't be presumptious to assume he has arrived so soon.

Chase did this in the last innings (33 from 37 balls for 14 overs...scoring rate of 89.1cool but Carter stank up the place batting extremely slow when he was needed to accelerate...(scoring rate of 41.93

Conclusion: Samuels and Bravo added to this team would make this team much more competitive batting wise along with replacements for Powell and Carter.

Not possible due to the Windies policy of cutting off nose to spite face.

I with Coach Law....he said this is the first time his bowlers bowled so badly.

Our bowling stocks don't look bad in ODIs with Narine, Jacob Roach, Joseph,Beaton and allrounders like Reifer,Powell,Cornwall, Primus and Greaves to assist.

Blackwood and Hetmyer for Carter and Powell

THE selectors are stupid! Noone would complain if they bought in these guys.....why not selectors?

both are stroke makers and score at a decent clip AND they are part of the future of West indies batting

Narper 2017-06-26 18:14:42

Whatever happened to Johnson Charles? Andre Fletcher?

Oilah 2017-06-26 18:23:44

In reply to Narper

Always liked Charles

analyst-kid 2017-06-26 18:51:49

In reply to Oilah

Charles to me is the only opening option we could turn to right now with any sort of experience.

Hetmyer would be the other option as one to expose for the future....Hetmyer IMO gets away the ball and not just block and hit.

I would also consider Kraig Braffit....this team is desperate for someone to stay with Hope

analyst-kid 2017-06-26 19:12:40

In my opinion Kraigg is okay but he needs at least three men at the top with him who can bat over 10 overs at a 80-100 scoring rate to compensate for his 50-60 scoring rate.

Brathwaite
Hetmyer/Lewis
Hope
Samuels
Blackwood
Chase

Narine?

Narine was last selected to play a ODI for WI against Pakistan in Sharjah in 2016

Since then, WI has played 16 ODI's

He not in WI ODI plans

This despite being THE #5 ICC RANKED ODI BOWLER

In 2017 after 11 ODIs Evin Lewis averages 20 with a SR of 68

In 2017 after 11 ODIs Kieron Powell averages 14 with a SR of 65

Maispwi 2017-06-26 20:36:03

All kinda names and no big push for a player with a 51.7 List A average after 20 matches but calls go out for

Hetemyer averaging 26.75 after 8 List A matches

Blackwood 25.18 after 32

Charles 48 ODIs average 26.72, 88 List A average 23.86

Den cuss de players when de doh perform.

A man score fifty he become de flavour of de month, two low scores later he suddenly become a shytehound. Allyu real good

Narine and Nurse would make a good team, both good ODI bowlers (excellent in narine case) and both can add runs to the board.

Narine and Samuels is a big loss to this series, especially Samuels who loves India lollipop bowling attack.

analyst-kid 2017-06-27 02:54:36

In reply to jen

One would think that the desire to be competitive and to do well against a top side like India and hence increase their eligibility to make the upcoming WC and move up the ratings would make the WI consider the inclusion of Samuels Narine and I daresay Bravo but yet the Board persists in upholding an eligibility rule for an amateur List A tournament and a President of all persons maintains he is owed an apology by a mere player. A President should be above this....I recall the late President Peter Short going against his board members and trying to get Lara back on the team to play cricket.

I don't like to have a say on these matters because it seems so shameful and petty. Cricket Authorities throughout the region has to be utterly disgraceful to allow such a boy to be leading them.

analyst-kid 2017-06-27 03:01:22

In reply to Narper

WI is going nowhere with Lewis and Powell and those dismal averages and low SR.

They rightfully criticise Carter but they make no mention of those at the top....they are no different in contributions to Carter....at least Carter can bowl.
