The 200M...What's happening with it?

SirGarny 2017-07-12 13:16:18

Bolt's not running it in the upcoming WC....(imagine...his favorite event..practically unbeatable)

neither is Elaine Thompson..

neither is Allyson Felix..(200, 400m specialist)

even Bowie of the US is considering skipping that event.

Anyone with any insight? shock shock surprised

Why wouldn't Bolt run the 200m? Is he carrying any injury?

Damn shame. Because seriously, the man is great in 100m but a sheer dream at the 200.

Bolt probably doesnt want to train anymore. i actually dont expect him to win the 100m its obviously a challenge to him. nothing left to prove. why diminish his legacy?

Bolt is in semi retirement. You know that saying that from you thinking about it, you are already there.

The World Champs is his walk away event. It was carefully selected for this purpose. I think in connection to that Blake is only running the 200m

I expect him to give it good go in the 100m but don't be surprised if he either doesn't turn up or drop out at some stage due to injury.

There is something to the Van Niekerk challenge at this stage of his athletic career but if Bolt's mind was all in I still see him winning that contest now.

Gone are the days when to make he Jamaica team you had to be doing 100/200 and a leg on the 4x100m relay if you going as a sprinter.

In the 200? That's his best race...he hasn't been beaten in how many years?

Of the 2 races I would think the 200 was his speciality...

But you might have a point here....

But this I think would seriously tarnish his legacy...

I expect him to give it good go in the 100m but don't be surprised if he either doesn't turn up or drop out at some stage due to injury.

But what reason does Elaine have for not running it? Maybe the 3rd place finish at the Prefontaine Classic is still in the back of her mind...(It wasn't even a close 3rd.)

cry cry

No. ET focusing on money right now, not medal glory. That is for Olympics.

Furthermore she may be nursing niggles and I am sure she wants to get a big cut of Diamond League money.

Chances are Bolt not in the condition that he needs to be in to double. As I said, semi retirement.

I thought Blake was doing the double.

Don't rule out de Grasse in the 200m for men.

With Thompson and Bowie concentrating on the 100m it seems that Dafne schippers is now favourite for 200m gold.

I'm disappointed because I have world championships tickets for the 200m.

He has qualified for the double but there has been talk.
Not sure if that is set in stone yet.

It's the only way she would win it...with the other two stars not participating!

But is the Bahamian 400m specialist considering the 200 as well?....Shaunae Miller-Uibo...remember she dusted ET in the 200m at the Prefontaine Classic earlier this year (although she didn't win the race)
