Jamaica's Tyreke Wilson won a bronze medal in a historic boys 100m final on yesterday's opening day of the 10th IAAF World Under-18 Championships in rainy conditions at Kasarani Stadium in Nairobi, Kenya.

Wilson, who went into the event with the fastest time of 10.34 seconds, ran 10.65 seconds (-0.3m/s) to finish behind two South Africans as Jamaica got on the medal tables in their first final of the five-day championships.

After two faulty starts, South Africa's Tshenolo Lemao won his country's first-ever global 100m gold in any age group, running 10.57 seconds with his compatriot Retshidisitswe Mlenga taking silver with 10.61 seconds.

The Saffers are coming!

Davis third in 11.67. Was expecting her to run much faster. That must be her slowest time in 3-4 months. Her reaction time was good so I need to find the video.

In reply to HeadleyShe was about to run past them all, but pulled up. Seems like a serious hamstring injury too. It is available on Youtube's "IAAF" channel daily.

Disastrous meet for Yard.

The two 100m finalist for girls and boys, pulled up and finished 3rd.

400m girls finalist was way ahead, stumbled over the last hurdle and finished 2nd. In the Boys section, one of the favourite, had a horrible race.

Very nice problem to have. The men are dominating and young Russell is in the wings. Not to mention Hyde and Mowatt in 400.

With a little more fine tuning,Williams should get better, but it will take a lot to beat Kenny and company from US.Where is Rollins>

Overall good performance by our athhletes.Suffered some bad luck. Could have been better.

Yes good performance overall. With a little luck it could have been even better. Guyana got a silver and TUrks got a bronze from one of their JC based students.

Miss Rollins missed a drug test after the Olympics and has been banned. Cannot remember the duration of the ban. But a number of 'voyers' have expressed disappointment. big grin

BTW it seems the 12.72 britnay Anderson did to win the 100mh was not wind legal.

Sherica Jackson, Williams-Mills, McPherson and Day are not looking up to par. Jackson and others may be under loading and not yet in race shape so we wait to see and hope that Chris Ann Gordon can give us a positive surprise.
