ST. JOHN’S, Antigua – Cricket West Indies (CWI) have today confirmed that batsman Darren Bravo is available with immediate effect to play in all forms of cricket, following his apology to CWI and the President, Dave Cameron.

President Cameron said:

“In early November 2016, I gave an interview to SportsMax TV during which I discussed player retainer contracts and the grades of contract that had been awarded to certain players. In the course of the interview I stated that Darren Bravo had previously been on an ‘A’ contract, which I have since been advised is not correct. I apologize for the misstatement, and wish to assure Mr. Bravo that there was no insult or offense intended towards him. Darren is a senior cricketer who has been a valuable part of the WINDIES set up for a long time, and I would hope to see his game continue to progress and mature, at both regional and international level.”

Darren Bravo issued the following statement:
"On the 11th day of November 2016, after viewing statements made
about me by Mr. Dave Cameron, President of the Cricket West Indies, on a television sports programme, I tweeted a response which referred to the President which was, in retrospect, inappropriate. As I have always tried to uphold the best traditions of West Indies Cricket and its players, I now therefore wish to withdraw the comment made on my Twitter account and apologize to the President of CWI and to all WINDIES fans.

I look forward to continuing to play a positive role in both the West Indies' senior men’s team and regional cricket, as well as helping to grow and develop cricket in the region at all levels."

WIPA had the opportunity to be a part of this solution instead Cameron's friends Wavell and Wayne Lewis sided with Cameron under the guise that Bravo was not a member of WIPA. Governance issues with respect to player sanction is a WIPA issue whether a member or not because the relationship with players is governed by rules.

Compare with Australia where the current senior cricketers actually make the decisions. Here WIPA is controlled by ex-players who no longer play and are also member of the regional boards clear conflicts of interest. Wavell needs to do the honorable thing and resign.

I am aware Dinas would consult with players before a decision is made,
The irony Dinas told me he has very high regards for Wavell when he was elected to lead WIPA.

I wonder if such exists now.

Dwayne Bravo said it best

10) WIPA is receiving in addition to the 3% of all players earnings, a sum of $500,000.00 USD annually from WICB (1% 0f WICB Revenue) once this new agreement remains.

$500,000 USD that is alot of Jamacian dollars to look the other way.

No Bravo No, No apology was needed to that cancer. I understand why you needed to do it and I look forward to you back in the team.

Know that WI cricket is not owned by Cameron and he is not the President of WI cricket, but only appointed by a corrupted institution that has hijacked WI cricket.

That his salary is paid for by revenues paid for and earned solely by the players whose swaet and blood is the only source of revenue.

That Cameron and the Board not an income producing and are an accounting liability.

Guys sometimes in life humility is the higher ground as we have to see the bigger picture or the end product. Importantly no one is larger or more relevant than WI cricket. They both put WI cricket ahead of personal grudges and pride, hence I respect them both, for whatever their personal motives. WI cricket has to take precedence!
