No love fuh di Fed?

imusic 2017-07-14 15:40:22

Or it was so expected that people take his win for granted?

Oilah 2017-07-14 15:44:01

Expected...but if Fed and Venus win it all it will feel like an episode of Time Tunnel smile

In reply to Oilah

Had this convo yesterday with wifey

You know how we love to compare eras in sports

Jordan better than Lebron

Messi better than Pele

Kohli (cough cough) better than Viv....Viv better than Bradman

Bolt better than Jesse Owens etc

Some subscribe to the view that great athletes today are fitter, faster, stronger, more athletic, therefore BETTER than great athletes of yesteryear

I tend to subscribe to that theory

But Fed at 35 going on 36, with the aid of advanced racket technology, improved nutrition and fitness, etc is beating the pants off of younger "greats"

He's playing with the same equipment and has access to the same improvements in technology, fitness and nutrition as they do.

Is not like Bolt running on a mondo track while Jess Owens was running on dirt or cinder tracks.

So maybe...just maybe....Fed.....and Serena and Venus...are providing a glimpse of the possibility/probability that great athletes from the past...given the same level playing field in all aspects of equipment, technology, nutrition, and fitness...may very well have AT LEAST held their own, if not done better than the current greats.

Interesting..... btw fed is not beating the younger 'greats'. He only beating Nadal of the big four

imusic 2017-07-14 16:30:55

In reply to FuzzyWuzzy

Not Fed fault that the younger "greats" cannot make a final or even a semi for him to thrash them cool

FuzzyWuzzy 2017-07-14 16:35:32

In reply to imusic

But they were thrashing him for the last five years

cherri 2017-07-14 16:57:31

In reply to FuzzyWuzzy

Bah humbug.......

they WERE.....(wunna too like the past)

are they NOW?

rolleyes

Devin 2017-07-14 17:32:26

In reply to FuzzyWuzzy

They? He and Nadal hardly played over the past few years. The three times they met this year was probably more than they've played in the past three years.

When the fu#k has Murray ever thrashed Fed?

Didn't Federer dismantle Murray in straight sets in the Semis of Wimbledon a few years ago?

Listen, you clearly are no Federer fan, nor do you rate him as the greatest, but your dumb fu#king ass can't even name someone better. You want someone there by default because of a few blemished on Federer's record.

Go fu#k yourself and don't come here with fu#king bull$hit.

FuzzyWuzzy 2017-07-14 17:37:35

In reply to Devin

moron yah come back? big grin big grin big grin big grin

Where did I say Fevered is not the greatest?

I point out flaws in your argument when the same argument you use to make fed the goat is used by you against Serena being female goat

Looks like I have to agree with Christy. you are a racist pig

Devin 2017-07-14 17:39:38

Since 2012, Federer is 8-3 vs Murray. He was won the past five meetings.

FuzzyWuzzy 2017-07-14 17:40:35

In reply to cherri

Please read before you comment. All I told imusic is that he only beat Nodal of the 'greats' this year. What the puck is wrong about that statement?

FuzzyWuzzy 2017-07-14 17:41:38

In reply to Devin

You too facting selective. Post the stats for djoka too....

Devin 2017-07-14 17:43:36

In reply to FuzzyWuzzy

What arguments did I make about Serena not being the greatest and how is that relevant to Federer?

You said that Federer did his damage before Nadal, Murray and Djoker. I told you that he's beat one of the big four in a slam that he's won on at least nine occasions.

Devin 2017-07-14 17:47:33

In reply to FuzzyWuzzy

You said he was fu#king being thrashed by the other members of the big four. You are a fu#king idiot if you think Murray can or ever has thrashed Federer.

It happened once, and that was after Federer played the longest three set match of all time vs Del Potro in the Semis of the Olympics(3-6, 7-6, 19-17 in four hours and 26 minutes).

Fed had no gas in the tank and was hammered in the gold medal match.

FuzzyWuzzy 2017-07-14 17:49:03

In reply to Devin

You posted Murray Fed since 2012. I wonder why you haven't posted similarly for the other two of the big four? big grin

Devin 2017-07-14 17:53:11

In reply to FuzzyWuzzy

Because you said he was being thrashed by the three of them.

Djoker has a 14-8 record in that span, one win was a result of a walkover.

Nadal is 6-5, with Federer winning the last three.

FuzzyWuzzy 2017-07-14 17:54:40

In reply to Devin

So if two of the three has a winning record, where is the inaccuracy?

Btw 3 of those against Nodal were this year

Devin 2017-07-14 17:59:19

In reply to FuzzyWuzzy

Are you fu#king retarded? What the fu#k does the word thrash mean to you?

FuzzyWuzzy 2017-07-14 18:02:46

In reply to Devin

Yah sick and sickening. Let we just leave it there. Nobody has, can or will ever beat the king

Saw the Federer match today. Federer greatest weakness is himself.

A Viv 25 years ago playing today without adjusting for the improved equipment, nutrition, fitness etc would still boss people around.

Viv playing on the same level playing field as today would be as dominant as he was in his prime. In other words beating up all bowling.

imusic 2017-07-14 19:57:39

In reply to deanjones

Jesse Owens?

BTW...Viv had endless troubles with Bhagwat Chandrasekhar

He hardly ever made much runs for the then Combined Islands when playing Shell Shield against the likes of Marshall, Garner, Daniel, Holding etc

I would not be surprised if Viv may have been challenged against mystery spinners as we know them today.

Then again...pitches in today's cricket are generallly flatter than in the past so there is that as well.
