Brendan Grace has just shot the first ever 62 at a Major Championship. He is now in a tie for 2nd at -4. Your leader is Jordan Spieth at -6.

Dustin Johnson is -5 on his round so far with 2 par 5's coming up that are reachable as well.

Its moving day at the Open Championship folks!

They have really been lighting it up though.

Jordan Spieth is the youngest winner of the Open Championship in history.

He now has only one leg of the grand slam left...the PGA next month. If he does he will be the youngest to do it.

I had said he is the future of america n golf. He may just be the future of golf period.

Technically, Speith is a very good golfer. But boy is he ever a whiny little brat.

This year's Open Championship was the first one in years which I didn't get chance to watch. And I don't regret it one bit.

I couldn't stand 5 mins of listening to Spieth talk to his ball and argue with caddy about yardages, club selection, and wind direction. lol

This year they spent half an hour trying to determine where he should play from after his ball went a mile over a hill, beyound some bushes and unto another t-box. I though for crying out loud put him out of his misery but not 30 minutes of this guy.

lol lol lol

I agree....he is a spoilt brat...and quite frankyly no sport should allow that long a deliberation to play a shot....ridiculous.

DAVE400 2017-07-24 13:08:42

but...it dont take away the rest of his game...begrudgingly i congratulate him.

And they want to know why golf on TV is such a hard sell post Tiger era.

Thank goodness I didn't waste my time watching that shyte. I miss seeing the old rivalries between guys like Phil and Tiger, or Phil and Vijay, Tiger and Sergio etc. It made for great TV because they just didn't like each other and it used to get intense. Now they are all buddies out there - ugh.

True. His swing has all the correct fundamentals and he's probably the best putter on the PGA tour.

dale_staple 2017-07-24 15:57:59

In reply to SnoopDog

I dont know about best putter. He is a bit streaky sometimes. Steve Stricker is a better putter than he is. Jordan just has a knack for making freakishly long putts. Thats sometimes sheer luck...not skill.

His swing is terrible by professional standards

Spieth is the best putter on tour when it matters - under pressure.

To win 3 majors by age 23 is a colossal feat. Given that he's a short hitter by current tour standards and can't over power courses it's his putting which has gotten him those 3 majors.

And yes, Stricker is a fine short game player but I wouldn't put him ahead of Spieth in putting simply because he doesn't have the ability to do what Spieth does under pressure in major championships.

Flying left elbow on downswing...creates inconsistent strikes...

you realize how terrible he was with driver in hand?

It's just incredible scrambling that saved him...

You're a true hacker Bro.

That flying elbow is what's called a professional chicken wing. Throughout the history of professional golf there have been hundreds of guys on tour with that chicken wing finish. But it's not the chicken wing finish that you and all the thousands of hapless hackers have. Your chicken wing is caused by early extension because you're coming over the top, stalling your pivot, and using only your hands and arms in the swing. If you didn't early extend and chicken wing you wouldn't hit the ball.

Contrast that with the professional chicken wing. Spieth finishes with the chicken wing because he wants the club face to stay on target post impact instead of flipping over. He's applying pressure on the shaft at, and post impact, instead of using his hands and dumping the club on the ball. He still isn't a great ball striker because using lightweight gear and plastic balls will never produce elite level ball striking like Hogan or Trevino. But by current tour standards he's got one of the better techniques out there. Three majors at 23 ain't too shabby.

That meltdown at the Masters is 100% mental than technique related. For some reason that one hole on that one golf course is his bogeyman. Too bad he's such a whiny cunt.

Of course he chicken wings all clubs. The professional chicken wing is a result of the pressure on the shaft caused by the use of his pivot at and post impact during a full swing.

The golf swing is about pressures and forces, not static positions. You'll get it one day.

All very technical sounding but the fact is he does not hit fairways and greens in regs...

So you go on about his swing having the correct fundamentals when you really don't have a chicken's leg to stand on....

All the man has is 3 majors at age 23 to show for it.

But you keep hacking away Bro. You'll break 90 one day. lol

Lee Westwood - 38 professional wins (former world number 1)
Retief Goosen - 41 professional wins (2 time U.S. Open Champion)
Jordan Spieth - 14 professional wins (3 time major champion; former world number 1)

All three of these guys have the chicken wing release.

DAVE400 - 0 professional wins (owner of a slice which won't go away)

Our boy Dave however has the classic straight arm release. lol
