HEADLINE: Back In The Fold, But For How Long?

CaribbeanCricket.com 2017-07-23 06:57:30

After years of infighting that led to quarrels, strikes, stand-offs, and eventually, the gradual erosion of the once mighty West Indies team, Cricket West Indies and the West Indies Players Association have finally come to an agreement, an amnesty, to save West Indies cricket, or so it appears.

It has been agreed, in principle, that players no longer need to participate in domestic regional tournaments in order to represent the West Indies, especially in the shorter versions of the game, and that means players like Christopher Gayle, Dwayne Bravo, Sunil Narine, and Kieron Pollard can now represent the West Indies again.

The move also means that players like Marlon Samuels, Darren Sammy, who once ‘dissed’ the administration with his harsh comments, Lendl Simmons, and André Russell, and Nicholas Pooran are available for selection.

The ‘prodigal sons’ also include Darren Bravo, whose return came rather surprisingly and easily.

Good Article, but the CWI still have a problem in the future with how they select Players for the WI team, in the new contract, the Players should be required to play in at least one match in two formats in order to be selected for the WI team.

This is nothing but Smoke & Mirrors ,
which is the usual modus operandi , for the Emperor & his Minions .

They are without the shadow of a doubt
feeling the heat from Prime Minister
Rowley , who I hope is not gullible
to this latest ploy . The insertion of the words Temporary Amnesty is very
troubling .

few things are certain, however: it should make the atmosphere around West Indies cricket more pleasant; it should make the ODI and the T20 teams that much stronger; it will be good for the young players in the team as far as their development and their confidence are concerned; and it will leave the top players free to earn their money wherever they want to, wherever they can, and still be available for the West Indies.

OK ... if Gayle, Bravo Snr., Pollard, Narine, Sammy, Samuels, etc. are back in the fold, how will the young players he speak of make the team?

also if they dont play domestic cricket how will the young players benefit. It is a two edged sword with pros and cons, the selection policy needs to be looked at and be less hardlined but also the players have a role to play in helping to nuture the up and coming talent, i believe that immediate past players should be invovled with our domestic competitions at all times

This problem started in the Desmond Haynes era when he was not selected after not playing in the minimum amount of regional matches. It was argued by the WICB that the senior players were absent from the regional games and the interest of cricket in the region had diminished because the senior players were not there. It is still the argument today and probably if WIPA had not opted out of WIBC membership, a solution could have been found from within the Board. Let's hope they can work together to find a lasting solution. big grin big grin

There is lots of place for young worthy players who have earned picks

With Holder as captain,we only have room for one more all rounder out of Sammy, Pollard and Big Bravo , We still need an opener out of Lewis/ Hope/ Powell.

Shai Hope should retain the gloves, and we have space for another middler order bat who can contribute with the ball, out of J-Mo, Chase, and Rovman.

Nurse may still keep out Narine in ODIS, the new Narine is not as deadly as the chucking version, and Nurse has performed creditably in his absence.

Kesrick Williams should also retain his spot.

Young players that have performed in the stars absence, can still find place in the best XI, those that earned it.

A new contract will shortly be signed, and one hopes that whatever is done, and however it is done, West Indies cricket is protected; the way in which a player can represent the West Indies will be clearly and simply set out the player will not be allowed to come in, represent the West Indies at international events only when it suits him and then go about his business and that the player will be respected by everyone.

Stand by all, tha shit is gonna hit the fan!

Tony Becca has found his voice on this issue just after the horse has left the barn, so to speak.

Come in Point

Tony Becca is a veteran Dinosaur , who long ago was brainwashed into believing that the people in the WICBC
were and are always Right .

Let me ask a very pertinent Question

RECENTLY THE EMPEROR WENT TO RADIO

STATION , HE DEMANDED THAT A

JOURNALIST NOT BE SEATED NEAR HIM ;

HE ALSO DEMANDED THAT THE THE SAID

JOURNALIST IS BANNED FROM ASKING HIM

QUESTIONS .

I have yet to hear or read any Outrage from the the Press regarding
this Bull Shit . I would like to hear
the names of ANY MEMBER of the Press
who was openly Critical of the behaviour of the Emperor in the Studio .

Once again illustrating why I have
absolutely no respect for many in the
Press . So tell me this :

WHAT DID BECCA ET AL STATE REGARDING

THIS STARK ARROGANT ; CANTANKEROUS &

EGOMANIACAL BEHAVIOUR OF THE

EMPEROR. .

It is the Press in the Region who have thrown in their lot with Worst
International Cricket Board in the
Commonwealth .

Every day both the Sports Journalists
& the Emperor & his minions wittingly or unwittingly prove that my assessment of them is correct .

What was or is Becca's opinion regarding the Emperor's Behaviour in
the Radio Station ????

My understanding is that a Caller enquired why the Journalist did not ask the Emperor Questions ;

THE JOURNALIST , IT IS MY

UNDERSTANDING ; STATED ON AIR THAT HE

WAS NOT ALLOWED TO ASK THE EMPEROR

ANY QUESTIONS .
